One woman lost a total of 87lbs. by following this diet and taking Aqua Flora within 4 months.

Thankyou Jesus for you, I started my diet yesterday and am starving today.
Looks nutritious. Makes me feel like eating now.
I would like to know if you are smart to consume honey as it is a single sacharide. Is that alright?
Wooo time to lose some weight.
Great list and pretty photos, too. I love it.
My understanding is that raw honey fights yeast and fungus. Bees nests are made moist dark areas and would succumb to molds and fungus if honey promoted yeast/fungal growth.
Raw honey can be used to get rid of a sinus infection which is almost always the result of yeast over growth.
The best to you.
Kelley
This is a very comprehensive list. I applaud you. I had to be on a candida diet for quite awhile and it is very difficult. Starving out candida and getting the body back on track needs to be done. I was very sick with candida to the point where it was eating my skin and other organs. I needed medication to help as well as the diet and you really don't want to get candida that bad in your system. Once you know what you can eat is a great way to plan your meals. Any food culprit can fuel candida. Thank you for posting a list of foods that helps people know what is okay to eat.
To really do the candida diet there should be no consumption of grains (carbs) in the first 2-3 weeks at least. These should be limited to 1/2 to 1 serving a day for the remaining 2+ months until symptoms clear completely.
Cool find. Thanks for the health information.
Is plain tofu okay?
I've been on the diet for a year and the culture showed no yeast so I put tomatoes, bread, and dairy back into my diet but my symptoms came back this morning. Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone know if there is something that mimics candida?
Am really confused as a complete novice - one day only - trying to sort this out one site says porridge for breakfast is fantastic another site says absolutley no. I am dairy intolerant so make it with water and oat 'milk', I have been pouring maple syrup on thinking that was a good option! If I leave off the maple syrup is porridge good or bad, what alternatives are there left for breakfast???
Great article! As acceptance of the Yeast Syndrome grows, it's good to see a practical guide to living a candida-free lifestyle. This is a great interest of mine, and you might want to check out a recent article I wrote entitled "Got Allergies? A Sinister But Rarely Acknowledged Cause". Keep up the good, informative work!!!
Thanks so much for your prompt help. Little confused about the addition of dried fruit as I thought that was on the banned list.
Sorry, forgot to ask, is it OK to use oat milk to make the porridge or is rice milk better. I am allergic to all dairy and really cannot cope with anything which tastes like milk so have problems with eating cereal with anything other than juice which I now realise is a no-no. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, really do appreciate your time and commitment.

A friend was infected by a doctor doing srgery, back then there was no name. they figured it out just last summer.so she has gone 24 yrs not knowing what to do.now the more i talk to her i am thinking me too.Iam diabetic so i have to watch my carbs to begin with.I am wondering how that will affect my blood sugars and medication?and where do i start to see if i am affected?
I was also wondering about Lactobacillus Acidophilus made by Jamieson does it help or not?
Is agave nectar an allowable food on the candida diet?
Thanks! How about Bragg's Liquid Aminos? (I have a few questions actually.) Rice cakes--lightly salted Quaker variety, or brown rice cakes? Stevia makes a product that is cut with something so that it isn't bitter. (Sorry, I didn't write it down while at the market.) Is that product ok? (If you need the name, I'll write it down the next time I go.) Thanks for your time. I want to make sure I fully understand this before I start it.
The Aquaflora list says that xylitol is an acceptable sweetener. Is tis ok?
Thanks for answering all of my questions. One more--on that muesli recipe that you listed above, when you take 1/2 cup of the mixture and soak it in water overnight, how much water do you use. (I know that I can't eat this at the start, but I love muesli and this sounds great for later.)
Okay, I discovered that I have even more questions. (I hope that I am not annoying.) What about raw dairy? Specifically, if I got raw milk and made unsweetened, plain yogurt with it at home, would that be allowed? What about rice or soy or almond cheese (store bought)? I have read conflicting information about eating grapefruit, Granny Smith apples, blue and raspberries, and coconut. What do you suggest about these? Once again, many thanks for your time and answers.
Many thanks! You are a tremendous help!!
Hi, thank you for such a detailed list. My query is about fruits, other places say that no fruit is allowed (especially in the first 3 months) due to their high sugar content.
Hi! Does no wheat include sprouted, as well?
hi, many thanks for the reply. I would also like to know if chickpea flour (gram flour) is ok to use?
HELP! I AM VERY NEW TO THIS. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR MONTHS AND A FRIEND SUGGESTED THIS AS MY PROBLEM. A LOT FITS. MY BIGGEST DELIMA TO START IS BREAKFAST. I THOUGHT I READ ONE PLACE THAT YOU COULD EAT OATS(AS IN OATMEAL) AND ANOTHER THAT YOU COULD NOT. ALSO, THOUGHT I READ THAT BARLEY WAS ACCEPTABLE....QUAKER QUICK BARLEY?....THIS IS REALLY GIVING ME A PROBLEM WRAPPING MY BRAIN AROUND SO MUCH INITIALLY. TOO MANY UNFIMILIAR TERMS. IN THE BEGINNING, IT APPEARS THAT THE SIMPLER THE DIET CAN BE KEPT THE BETTER. PLEASE BABYSIT AND GET ME STARTED
So glad I found this page. I've been doing some research on the yeast-free diet over the past couple of days and have been sticking to it pretty well so far. I suffer with ulcerative colitis/diarrhea and when I read that candida could be a major cause of that, it seemed to make sense. Also made sense that antibiotics make colitis worse - probably because they increase yeast. I came across a story about a woman who had colitis for 60 years, did the yeast-free thing and was completely healed in a couple of weeks. I can tell I already feel a difference. It's kind of amazing and kind of angering that, after all the pain I've been through with it and all the medications and the steroids which caused even more problems, all I really probably needed to do the whole time is just go yeast-free.
Thanks so much for your information.
There is no mention of goat milk or cheeses - are these allowed? I have read that goat milk is a better alternative to cow's milk as it is closer to human enzyme structure than cow's milk. Is it allowable? Do you know byy chance?
Hi I am new to this diet and found your web sites to be extremely helpful! I don't feel so alone! I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me out; Can you have Erthritol for a sweetner? Also I have been eating a lot of corn(organic) in pastas and flours. I have a moderate gluten intolerance so I try to avoid wheat. is corn OK to eat regularly?
Thank you so much for time, I am sure you are extremely busy!
Hi, first Thank You for a terrific site & info...it is so very much apprectiated :-) You're work is a Blessing!
for now I have a quick question (really need to get out the door to work but I'll be back)...I noticed it mentioned that raw honey is ok - what about Royal Jelly?
Thanks, Laurie
What I find the most difficult is going out to eat in restaurants or while travelling. I will have to stay at hotels in a few weeks and have no idea how I can stay on the diet while being away from home. I usually eat a packed lunch, rye bread (wasa) with goat cheese cucumber/green pepper and one avocado or a home made salad. What would you order when eating out, except a salad and what would you suggest for a packed lunch?
Thanx for your time and the wonderful recipes.
Hello again! So, my question is about after one has completed the diet. (Not there yet.) Will there always be foods that need to be avoided? How common is it for people who have followed the diet to the letter, to find themselves in the same condition months or years after they are done?
I'm so glad that I found you. I had just done a 3 day cleanse using virgin coconut oil and have started re-incorporating solid food back in and was limiting a lot what foods I eat because I was not sure what would affect the candida.
I know that the candida overgrowth I have is not gone yet, so I have been watching myself from eating carbs. The list you have is very helpful so now I feel that I have more options. I continue to take the coconut oil and it has help me a great deal with a lot of my symptoms. The most dramatic thing is that my blood sugar is coming down very quickly from the 300 and 400s. Tonight my fasting blood sugar was 113 before dinner. I just starting this 2 weeks ago. I could not help sharing this. I'm really excited and motivated to keep moving forward.
In looking at the recommendations that you give, it practically seems that everything must be organic to completely get rid of the candida. Is it still possible to bring it under control even if everything is not organic such as the meat, chicken, and eggs?
So far, my plan is to switch over as finances permit.
I can sure tell you that I am excited about the recipes and can't wait to try them out.
why is cow's milk not allowed. what if it is organic
Would like a vegetarian version that is also gluten and wheat free - I also can't eat fibre, either ie beans, veg like broccoli etc. Hope you can help as now ving on porage and potatoes!
Hi , have been reading your posts , i had a hair strand test done first to tell me what foods my body could tolerate, and i found it a little easier knowing what i couldn't eat, i am a tea drinker but the problem i am having is trying to give up the sugar i take in my tea, i live in ireland and where can i purchase stevie sweetner, absolutely love your page very imformative. thanks
What type of symptoms are typical after you try to introduce a food back into diet that your body isn't ready for yet? Is bloating one? Stomach cramps? Gas?
You are so helpful, God bless you! I just came back from the doctor and I was so disappointed (she's the 3rd or 4th doctor) with her advise. She gave me some oral tablet and cream and supplements that is so high in carbohydrates and when I read further (after reading your informative page) has Brewers Yeast and fructose, etc!! She informed me to throw away my undies (do I have to really?! I just bought a fresh batch 2 months ago) and not use vaginal wash and warm water and not wear panties (which gross me out!..Please advise me further..
I am just concentrating on the banned foods, I find it easier to memorize this. My question is, how long do I have to stay away from these banned food?
Is green tea okay?
Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much Wammy! You are wonderful. I'll check Aqua Flora on line.
I'm in Brunei at the moment and it's difficult to even find pure sourdough or rye bread! Everything, I believe, is mixed with white flour.
Do you have a simple recipe for bread using those allowed flour so I can bake my own?
And please suggest breakfast menu for Asians like me. Thank you so much! (I can't find organic eggs here) And speaking of probiotic, I found one brand but it has only 2billion beneficial bacteria (I gathered we need 100billion friendly bacteria to really make a difference)..should I still buy this? I've searched everywhere here and that's the only one available.
I truly appreciate your help!
Thank you very much!
It's my understanding that raw organic apple cider vinegar with the mother helps the body to a ph balance. I recently found out that I have a servere case of candida and I use apple cider vinegar regularily and enjoy it. What are the negitave affects of the cider vinegar on candida? Thank you. I am looking forward to your responce.
Is agave nectar ok?
I really dont have major symptoms of candidasis . Just a couple like althetes foot, sugar craveings, I want to nip it in the but before it gets bad I was on a large dose of antibiotics last year for kidney infection. I started the candida diet on monday and feel pretty good I had a little bit of agave and xlitol and felt fine some people say it is ok but then again some candida diet are totally different if you search the web.
Thanks so much for your site! How wonderful! I have a 5 yr old with sensory/behavioral issues and a friend with an Autisitic son turned me to the possibility if yeast overgroth and it fits. So the whole family is changing eating habits. I have seen so many conflicting sites and so much information. Your site is a breath of fresh air! I no longer feels so alone and uninformed! You have been a blessing.
My husband wants to know about Jerky, we understand no cured meats, but don't understand why. Is there anything wrong with drying venison?
Is baking powder ok?
Thank you so much for the guidelines. I started my "diet" 3 days ago and was totally confused as to what I could and could not eat. This was verrrrrry helpful. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for the info on this site. I have followed most of the eating plan for the last 6 weeks and feel great. My sinus is still congested but I feel so much better and have lost 14 lbs too. This weekend I added back a glass of wine and one beer. I also had wheat. Too much too fast. I do suggest that eating whole foods is a great start to any meal plan. I worry about all the additives in many of the low fat alternatives and now just buy the higher fat items. I have not eliminated milk or yogurt from my diet yet. I have been working to reduce items and eliminate others as this is basically elimating so many foods that I love. I do feel great, with lots of energy. I notice immediately or within 24 hours if I have eaten an item that I should not have (bloating, headache, nasal congestion)
It is a great site and has helped me see all the items I can eat. Thanks for taking the time and including the posts so we can all share.
Jo
I am Irish and as most people know we love our potatoes, are these allowed on a candida diet(please say yes ) they are not the sweet potatoe. The only problem i have is that i never heard of some of the foods that you mentioned and i don't know if i can purchas them here in ireland. I went looking around to see if i could purchase organic apple cider and i couldn't get it anywhere. Sometimes i find the cravings hardest to fight but thanks to your information i am hoping to broaden my taste buds. Keep up the good work on your posts, only for them i would lost..sue
I was under the impression that vinegar is not allowed on the Candida diet. But apple cider vinegar is. Can you elaborate?
Are raw carrots not good for candida? I actually like raw better than cooked myself.
This list is too long, please can you sun-up for the topics of spices and herbs, because organic is it a little spensive, the pasta made with rice, potato and soy organic Gluten Free is not allowed,I'm asking all this because sometimes I'm unavailable to go to the Whole Food store, and besides it is far away, at cub foods stores they have just few things. The brown lentis how many times a week can I eat it Thank you. What's the difference between the candida part 2and part 3?
Thank you
thanks for post that great lists!!!!
now I dont have to worry about buying the wrong stuff
** btw I read somewhere on the web n it says plums are not allowed on candida diet
do u think it's real or just rumors?thanks :D
( just picked a bunch of plums from tree...already ate some of them * scared now *) haha
I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM CANDIDA SINCE I CAN REAMEMBER. WILL I HAVE TO STAY ON THIS DIET FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE?
Is the suplement Threelac good for killing the candida?
So, is whole grain wheat bad? If so, why? Also, why cant you have apples and other common fruits?
Thank you for the precise listing of foods. I have just found this site and have been taking (final stage) Candigest Plus which I'm rotating w/Olive Leaf and Caprylic Acid. Is this equivalent to taking Aqua Flora? I know milk is not good, but I seem to do ok with fat free lactaid w/no hormones/antibiotics added to it for cereal in the morning. I thought it was ok to have black and green tea....Right now, my bloating/gas is gone, but still have extensive external itching. Is tea tree cream ok to use? Of course, this doesn't help when it's summer and it's so humid! Last question. Is there any kind of antibiotic that will kill all the yeast and then if one replenishes with probiotics and lactobacillus, wouldn't that do it? Also, does nystatin seem to be an alternative? I'm asking all this because I'm about to see yet another doctor in desperation, and I'm afraid all he/she will do is look up at the ceiling and tell me take 7 day monistat... thank you ever so much-
what about splenda?? can i use splenda?
Anonymous:
No. I used to use it but found it's made from sugar. Get Stevia (it comes in packets and in liquid drops) at the health food store; it's plant based and really does taste good. The FDA hasn't approved it so they can't sell it as a sugar replacement.
I just want to say thank you so much for compiling this list and website! Today's the first day of my candida diet and I've probably been affected by this for many years. I've done a lot of halfway solutions (used garlic supplements, probiotics, etc.) but I'm hoping this will make a big difference. Thank you so much!
I'd also recommend seeing a homeopathic/naturopathic/chinese medicine doctor to any candida sufferers. While it is my sincere hope that traditional medical doctors start incorporating holistic/homeopathic/naturopathic/herbal/nutrition-based approaches to health, most doctors don't understand or use these approaches yet. my traditional doctors all treated my symptoms individually (i had a pulmonary doctor, a dermatologist, a rheumatologist, and a gastroenterologist on top of the regular doctors), and couldn't really see how my symptoms were related. Maybe wammytk has some thoughts on this?
my acupuncturist/herbalist actually sent me here, and she's helped me with this more than anyone. I was suffering from really severe asthma, allergies, and arthritis (at 25! actually, since I was 14!) and thought I'd never get better, but now I'm doing pretty good! The asthma and allergies are mostly gone, but I'm still having some symptoms, some sinus problems, and while I'm a lot more energetic I still have a bit more to gain back. I'm hoping this is the next step to health!
Hello, me again! So, I have one more day on the Aqua Flora program, and I have a question. How long, on average, does it usually take after finishing that your body lets you eat foods with any kind of refined sugars or wheat or dairy or yeast? My body won't even let me eat beans or a lot of different vinegars. That diet has changed my life and is an absolutely positive way. I guess that I just underestimated the time frame for expanding my list of acceptable foods.
thank you so much for your list
i was going crazy with all controversy, one site said this and the other said that...
my chiropractor told me yesterday that i had candida and it was crazy because i was embarassed to tell him all the symptoms that i had and he found it without me saying a word by body testing me.
I am the kind to eat sweets and chocolates and all the stuff that are not allowed on the diet for years... today i had a hard day as it was my first day ever without sweets
I want to heal fast so i will be using your list and come back on your site often
thank you very much
you are an angel
Your site is very helpful!!!
Though I have a question - is Soy milk and Goat's milk (or goat cheese) allowed while following a Candidat diet?
Thanks! as I'd had conflicting info on that.
Cheers! :)
I have read this whole column of comments. My question is a little more complex
I have had lyme disease since 2001 and have been treating extensivly since 2006
I started with homeopathy and graduated to anitbiotic very high doses then IV infusions. I got some better but they only would give me 5months of Iv antibiotic
I took mega probiotics during this. But I think I took them at the wrong time of the day. Incorrectly at first. Then I had an ion foot bath that said I had fungus
so... my delemma is are these symtoms from my lyme or candida. A upper Gi
indicated there was no problem. I am now doing essential oils inside and out for
symptom relief. Any comment would be wecome. I have no health ins.and not
a dollar for any more doctors. desperatly seeking help Deb
Hi I have read that people with candida are prone to defiencies in calcium, magnesium and zinc. A recent blood test has show that I have less vitamin D in my blood, the doctor has prescribed calcium and vitamin D tablets - these contain sorbitol, am I able to take them?
Help - just heard I need to do this and have no idea how to get started. What do people leat for breakfast - previously I would have an applie and yogurt or 1 minutes Mother Oats with some blueberries. I'm truly at a loss as to how to put together a meal plan
I was just wondering what the long term affects would be if candida is not controlled to a normal state in your body. I was on the diet religiously for a year, then lost a ton of weight and slowly put things back into my diet I had previously avoided. I am eating more sweets lately, which make me sick some of the time, and if I keep going like this... will it lead to some other serious illness?
thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Take care.
Hi I have another query:) I wanted to know if I can have sago seeds, Im hoping that you've come across these, because they are abit unusual. I've experienced them through asian cooking, and basically you can just cook them in water and they become a gloopy texture.
I only take OTC medications when absolutely necessary, and I just have a question for future reference. I am under the impression that nsaids--like ibuprofen--aren't the best option to take when on a candida cleanse diet. Is this true? Is acetomenophen a better choice? I had a screaming headache today and wasn't sure what to do.
Thank you. I came up with another question--is there anthing out there that can be used as a substitute for buttermilk in recipes?
How about home-brewed Kombucha? I've heard it said that it helps fight candida and also, from other sources, that it feeds candida. Can you tell me what you understand about this?
Thanks.
Hi, I've been off and on candidas diets for the past two years. Just have a few questions.
Should I really cut ot all carbs for three weeks?? The only carbs I am eating are Brown rice, Puffed Quinoa (w unsweeted soy milk for cereal) and Beans. The Diet seems to be working but slowly... and hate to cut all the carbs out because i loose to much weight and have no energy.
Next is the tomatoe, I've read lots of mixed rivews on this. I had a friend tell me no tomatoes on the diet because of how they digest or something... So you beleive tomatoes are ok??
I noticed you recomending rice milk a couple times. I beleive rice milk have some of the highest sugar contents? or not? Can you get unbsweetened or reduced sugar or something??
Do you know if tapioca is ok??
And finally I stay away from potatoe all together, it is complex carbs and gets converted into sugar very easily.
Hope this isn't too much, lol. Thanks for everything and happy dieting =)
Is sunflower oil ok to use? How about sausage I make it myself with pork hamburger and spices ? I also make my own mayo with pasterized egg whites ground mustard lemon juice and sunflower oil ? Is pork chops or pork hamburger allowed at all? Thank you so much.
RE:
Pat R. says:2 days ago
"ground mustard lemon juice"
So ground mustard is alright then???
Ive had a bad brain fog for two months now. I cant concentrate or focus and I am having a very hard time remembering things. I think I may have an overgrowth of candida. I heard candida effects your ammune system. If this is truw how can I boost it back up? And how much sugar should I consume a day. I know nothing is sugar less, even vegies have sugars.
Is it ok for me to take vitamin supplements to boost my immuninty?
Thanks. I live in a college dorm facility, and I rarely have access to cooking. My day os so busy I usually eat fast food all the time. I try to stay on the healthier side like grilled chicken and togo's, but seeing that I cant eat bread this will be hard. I was never big on sugar. What can I eat since I am unable to cook. I have Subways, Togos, and every fast food place around. Is there anything that I can get at subway? Or is it good too eat Salads from McDonalds or Carls Jr. As long as its dairy free and I stay away from the salad dressing? Another thing is can I get the low carb burgers from places? Just the meat wrapped in lettuce.
Sorry I am so full of question. I just want to get rid of this brain fog ive had for 2 months. Its with me 24/7 and its effecting my work performance.
What tests can Dr.'s do to see if I have a Candita Overgrowth? Ive been to the Dr. 3 times. And they tested my blood for everything possible that is common, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, hormonal levels, vitamins... etc. With all these test done would the Candida show? Or do I need to ask for a specific test.
Ive ever had a CT scan done and it came up clean. One Dr. Said I am depressed and I have anxiety and the prescribed me Paxil which I refuse to take. Ive never been depressed in my life so why now? I think what ever I have is causing me to feel depressed. Not depression causing these symptoms.
Im having a hard time, I just wish I could wake up feeling the same again. All of my symptoms seem to be cognitive. Its very frustrating and I can barely study.
Another question I have is Katsup and Mustard? Are these ok?
Thanks,
Mark
I am removing carbs from my diet for three weeks.. Seems like what I have to do to get proper results. This means no brown rice, no quinoa, any grains really. What im asking is I guess beans and nuts are carbs too? gunna have to cut those too?
I'm gunna go tomaotes just on the fact that they are a controversial diet item. Also no leamons for the first three weeks juat for the fact tht its a fruit.
I find I can't cheat at all, if i Do I have to start the three weeks from scratch.
Happy Dieting, Kev
What are possible soups I can buy at the store that are canned that are carb free and sugar free? And which store can I find these at?
Hi Tammy,
Can you eat Greek (plain, fat free) yogart on the candidas diet?
Hi Tammy,
I have been reading thru all your postings about the Candida diet. I have to go on a strict Candida diet but I am also a Vegan. With that in mind I'm trying to figure out what I can eat for the first few weeks to get enough protein without eating too much grains and beans. I don't think it seems doable for me to restrict the grains for the first few weeks otherwise I don't know what I can really eat besides tofu and of course lots of veggies.
Any ideas would really help me!
Thank you
I rate this post as excellent post. This is very informative post about the such tasty food. I think the main plus point for your recipies that it is natural food based. And the natural things are very useful diet for defending many disease. one example of this is very serious skin condition vitiligo. the cure of vitiligo is very tricky matter as http://www.antivitiligo.com/ says that the balance diet is the best cure of the vitiligo. this could be same for other conditions and disease but I have not more information. So I like this diet post from the health and medical point of view.
Hi Wammy,
Are we allowed to have cocoa made with water, when on a candida diet? I have bought some Green and Blacks Organic Cocoa Powder.
http://www.greenandblacks.com/uk/productdetails.ph
Can I have this, flavoured with stevia, or is cocoa simply out of the question?
IF it is out of the question, why is this?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, Anne, it is allowed on the diet. It is low fat and a great anti-oxident. The stevis should sweeten it up just right.
Thanks so much Wammy, I found very little information about this online. By the way, my husband and I have been on the candida diet for over a month now, and we have already begun to lose weight. I have far less achey joints than I did before I did this diet and feel so much better.
To those doing the candida diet, stick with it! :-)
I was wondering if using the Aqua Flora 2 is something that will need to be a forever thing?
I mean it's O.K. if it so.
I was on it then went to the helth food store and got the 3rd part and it is not doing the job as well.
Can or dose the body become immune to the Aqua Flora?
Hi Wammy,
I have a condition called angioedema, which causes severe swelling in my eyes every single day. I am on doctor number 4 (as the other doctors have given up, even after using treatments from other universities and the Mayo Clinic), and have just started using the yeast-free diet in hopes that it will finally begin to help my symptoms. I have chronic yeast infections, in part because all of the medications I take on a daily basis break down my immune system so that I cant even fight off minor infections. I already have noticed a slight difference. Have you ever heard of severe swelling being a symptom of the Candida overgrowth? And do you have any suggestions as far as what to do next? I am at my breaking point, as I have been dealing with this severe problem for almost 4 years now, and as time passes I end up in the ER more often and just cannot afford to keep trying new doctors...none of them have done any good. I tried that test here at the website to test for Candida overgrowth, and rated a 48. Any suggestions would be helpful...I'm desperate at this point.
Thanks for your time.
I am looking for easy way to do an extremely strict diet for candida free that is right , I would buy this online if I could find a way to do this does anyone know how I can do this ? I don't want any controversial foods I want the strictest possible deal with no preservatives or yeast that messes anything up. Also does coffee mess this up im coffee addict would it help to do organic? please help.
Another question...I have endometriosis and my doctor has me on birth control pills in order to regulate my hormones. I remember reading somewhere that this type of medication is something to avoid with candida. I feel like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. I finished the candida cleanse diet a month ago and then began with the pill. Am I totally going to loose all the ground I gained in doing the diet?
Hi Wammytk,

Hi Wammytk,
Are we permitted to eat carob whilst on the candida diet? Does it feed the yeast?
Thanks Wammytk!
I cannot thank you enough for all of your information!! My 12 year old daughter has Tourette's and your site has helped me greatly in knowing what foods she can eat. We had natural meats and veggies only the first week. Now I am wondering if it is okay to start incorporating brown rice products and beans this second week? Also, I thought spelt bread did not contain gluten, but you have it listed differently. I was going to buy brown rice bread, but it was sweetened with fruit juice concentrates so I didn't think that was allowable. Lastly, is tapioca starch allowable? I wanted to get her rice dream ice cream, but the only questionable ingredient was tapioca starch. Sorry for all of the questions, but this is a crash course for me! Thanks again!!
It's me again! Just wondering if you have a yeast free brown rice flour bread recipe? I am also trying to avoid egg in the recipe if possible, but will take whatever recipes you have! Thanks again!
I noticed that almond milk was on the allowable list, but not rice milk. Can you please explain or was it an oversight? What about corn meal? Does it have too high of a sugar content? Thanks!
Will this diet help with mouth thrush? I've had 2 rounds of diflucan and the thrush comes back. Dr said nothing about diet change but I'm ready to try anything!
Thank you for answering my previous questions. I really appreciate your time and helpful information. Two more questions for now: When can allowable fruits be added back into the diet? We are currently eating only meats, vegetables and brown rice products. (This is week two of the diet for us.) Also, if we take Aqua Flora, do we continue other supplements that are designed to kill candida, or take the Aqua Flora alone? Thanks again!
Hi there,
Thanks so much for your help. I have afew symptoms, like a yeast infection that comes and goes and some digestive issues I hope will clear up, but my husband has had a horrible rash for 2 1/2 months. Nothing gets rid of it- arm pits and groin area. I am having to slowly cut down on my coffee/ cafine. How important is it to cut out coffee altogether? Also what kind of breakfast cereal is ok? I have read so many conflicting statements on this. My hubby is being so good. He has also been told that he has prostate issues and possibly high blood sugar- like pre diabetes. Are both or either of these things helped by ridding the body of candida?
I so much look forward to your response. Thank you so much for your time.
I apologise but I can't find a reply to this question, so I thought I would ask again.
Hi Wammytk,
Are we permitted to eat carob whilst on the candida diet? Does it feed the yeast?
Thanks Wammytk!
hi wammytk,
i am a ten year old with a severe case of candida and i am on the diet, i have been for about a moth now and i read the post by orz1 that said she was on it for a year and her symptomes came back! how long should i be on the diet for?
thanks,challis
Hi Wammytk, First I just wanted to add something to you last answer, I read somewhere that you should be on the diet for 1 month for every year that you have candida, with a minimum of 3 months... Do you think this is trueNext, "Nuts". Should they be romoved for the first three weeks as well? Also shelled nuts contain mold, so should they not be safe to eat if they were heated to 160 degrees??(this should kill everything?)Also possible bad news for me, I'm reserching it more right now, but, looks like Aqua Flora might be illigal in canada. Any other suggestions?
Kev
I'm so glad I came across this site. The other candida diets -- I came across on the web -- meant that I had to starve myself (and being naturally thin, this was bothersome to me).
I'm so glad to know that I can finally EAT (considering that I eat a lot of the foods that are good to eat while on a candida diet) as much as I want now. What are some good foods for maintaining a healthy weight. I'm male, and my normal weight is 137lb, but since trying to starve the candida, my weight has dropped to nearly 124lb. I prefer my weight.
Hello there! Here in the UK they are selling lactose-free milk.. think this would be okay? Its the sugars that I thought was why milk is a no-no.. Be great if you could tell me what you think of it. Cheers!
ThankYOU! I hoped that would be the case. Rice and oat milk are nice with cereal, but horrible in a cuppa decaf tea! :-)
Thankyou for your time and help, appreciated!
How about water chestnuts(would go great in stir fry), also do you know if smoke as an ingredient is allowed? Ummm and my previous question heating nuts to 160 Deg. will this kill all the mold?
I am just wondering how I can get my calcium reqirements. I have been on this program for a couple weeks now. Should I take supplements or what. Thanks so much for your help .
I am a 49 year old female
I wondered that too, but there's loads of calcium rich foods, check on Google. But to keep you going, Cottage Cheese (allowed on this diet I think), Dark Green Veg, Beans, Halibut, Kale, Salmon with bones.. and there's loads of suppliments out there too.
Hope nobody minds me butting in and writing this!! :-)
Thanks for giving me the information regarding calcium supplements. Now another question. I was just a whole foods and there are so many supplements, can you offer the type of calcium supplements that I should be looking for. I am overwhelmed by the amount out there. Could you clarify exactly what raw cottage cheese is. I checked at whole foods and they thought it might be something that was not pasturized and if that is the case it is something they would not carry. Thanks again. I feel so much better being on this "diet" I can certainly tell when I have had somthing I should not have.
Hi,
I was just wondering if you could tell me weather coconut is ok and also coconut milk.
Thanks. This is a great list.
I have read that Coconut oil is part of a natural cure for candida so I was wondering if coconut milk was ok too
Could you please clarify what "raw cottage cheese" is? Whole foods told me they couldn't sell it if it was not pasturized.
What about taking diflucan (prescription) along with the candida diet? I suspect candida to be my problem and where I live, it's hard to find some of the foods (I am overseas). Also, adding pro-biotics...if I can get them here where I live that is; would these measures plus the diet expedite things in terms of erradicating the candida?
Could you recommend a good pro-biotic that can be found in Erlangen Germany? I am civilian and do not have access to military facilities. Also, I have a heart arrythia and take toprol xl for this since it manages it quite well. Is there an issue with the aquaflor product and my meds?
Hi. I'm about to embark on the anti-candida diet as I have been ill for the last 3 years and no doctor can tell me why. Anyhow... I have read that grapefruit seed extract is good for killing the bad bacteria. When should I introduce this into the diet?
I just wanted to add, is tomato paste (99% tomato, salt) ok for this diet?
You said to limit peas on an earlier post. Should I not use split peas to make a soup? Or are split peas ok?
Thanks
Sorry to bother you again but i've been eating lentils with kidney beans.. sort of like madras lentils. I was wondering if lentils/kidney beans are like peas and should be limited.
I have a four week old baby and found out that he has thrush, its seems to bother him very badly. What would you suggest for him other than me following this diet? I am also taking acidophilis and giving him the liquid form twice daily
Is brown rice ok to eat?
is pumpkin okay to start the diet with? also what about taco shells and flatbreads like chipatis and totliias and rice noodles and rice wraps ? any ideas on snacks to
also i read chilli is ok so can i make a stir fry with fresh chilli ginger garlic coriander and lime and veges and meat ..... and brown rice if so theres acutally alot to eat
are complex carbs ok ? i think the yeast cookbook says yes
also how many carbs are permitted a day
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Is cornmeal allowed?
yes, cornmeal is allowed.
Just wanted to add a few things here. I started ussing Essiac Tea in the morning and night. This really helped my immune system. I found i was getting infections around my fingernails alot, since, it has all cleared up.
Probiotics can be taken throughout the day, bust most importantly before bed.(If they are good they should keep you going to the washroom regularly)
And don't forget the Aqua Flora, I find 1 Tbsp. 3xper/day 20 min before food works good.
Grapefruit Seed Extract should be taken with food, Olive Leaf Extract can be taken on empty stomach, Caprilic acid and Bentonite can be taken in the mornings. ***Be carefull not to take to many supliments. ie: Calcium supliments are not absorbed well by the body .
Ohh, another thing worth mentioning and often overlooked. Make sure to chew your food properly. Swallowing chunks of food, will leave unprocessed food for the candida to feed off of. Good Luck Everyone;)
Thanks for all the info!
It still seems odd that if so many in our society are affected by this Candida overgrowth, why isn't the Naturopathic team of specialists going on TV, radio, out to the public with this vital informtion? Why do we only get medical info in the news media from one side, conventional medicine?
Concerning the diet, why is wheat not allowed if it is not combined with yeast but rather with baking soda or powder?
Can you eat turkey sausage and turkey bacon? Also, can you eat yougurt made with soy milk?
I am about ready to start incorporating new foods. When introducing new foods what would be the best route to take? Thx!!
I will be away for one week, in a hotel in Dallas, in late November and have been on the Candida diet since October 10th.
How to eat in restaurants in my situation?
Thanks for your considerate response, wammytk!
Now, I have a new question:
Do you or anyone out there have a recipe for a little birthday cake OK on a Candida diet?
My husband's birthday is in two weeks, and he would like me to make a little cake that both of us can enjoy.
can you help? I've been on this diet for 6 weeks, and 3 days ago introduced a good probiotic, yeast, sugar and everything free. I originally went on the diet because of feeling sluggish, bloated, constipated and having oral thrush that no medicine could get rid. It was getting better slowly with this diet but now its come back with a vengance, and I've now got thrush in other places *blush*. I can only link it to the probiotic, as its the only thing that I've changed. Anyone experienced this? Is it worth continuing? Am I doing something wrong? I am tempted not to take anymore, even though its $40 worth of pills down the toilet!!
Any help/advice be appreciated big time, thankyou
Wammy-
I'm in my first week on the diet and had a few questions about ingredients. There is a product called Almond Breeze in the grocery store, an almond beverage, but it has evaporated cane juice in it. Is that legal on the candida diet?
Also, why do you recommend cooked carrots over raw? Doesn't that actually increase the carb content?
Can you recommend a brand of protein powder that doensn't contain sugar, sweeteners or any other illegal ingredients for candida dieters?
Thanks so much for all this info! Very helpful!
wow!!!! i have learned so much! thankyou for taking the time to post this diet. it has helped me alot. i do have a question though... you said seeded sunflower seeds are ok,but no salted seeds.does that mean i cant have flavored-salted sunflower seeds?
Is popcorn ok to have if it is popped in an air pop pocorn maker with no seasoning on it what so ever?
Thanks... I have stopped them now, and its clearing up again. Odd. I shall just leave the probiotics alone.
Laura, evaporated cane juice is made from sugar...
Wammy, I am sorry I have so many questions. I am always thinking of something so I do want to double check something on meats. Are deli meats allowed. I know it can't be smoked but is deli meats considered processed?
Thanks so much for your help.
I have a 4-1/2 year old son who is, for the most part, healthy and does not have any signs of Autism.
However, he's had a recurring yeast infection in his armpits and on his bottom since he was a baby and the pediatricians keep telling me it's just from extra moisture. I've never agreed - I've always felt it was something else.
In the past few days with his high consumption of Halloween candy, the rash is worse than it has ever been.
His behavior is often very unpredictable but I've noticed in the past two weeks he's been aggressive, grumpy, inattentive, etc.
After reaserching these symptoms I am almost positive that this is what he is suffering from. I'm just overwhelmed at how to change his diet and keep him healthy. I want to really go for it now to see how quickly he improves. What do you recommend doing for children - where should I begin? (The candy has been thrown away!)
Thank you,
Jamie
Is there any other type of milk such as soya or rice that is ok to drink/have on cereals?
Another question sorry, is yeast free soda bread/farls OK
i'm new to this diet - my nutrionist said no rice, no unlevened breads even (anything with flour)... any comments on that?
Is canned pumpkin allowed?
ok so its the holidays and hard no to drink. i know sugar is out of the question on thit diet but what about saki ( i dont know if thats spelled right .. haha). in moderation... can i drink that?
Are some types of vodka ok? I'd read that some makes have no sugar or yeast as they are eliminated by distilling the alcohol.
In doing food allergy research I found this information that has been helpful in possibly diagnosing some of the medical issues I have been facing. I have read through the diet, which is very limiting as it is, but with the foods I have tested positive in being allergic to, it makes the list even smaller. Turkey, Rice, Broccholi, all seeds, all legumes, chocolate, coffee, soy and peanuts are among the items I tested positive for, many of these items are not allowed on the diet and many are, have you found that the food allergies are due to Candida or in addition to this?
cmm1017, I hope you dont mind me writing, but you've ben tested for an awful lot of foods, and I'm always a bit wary of people cutting out lots of food, foods that are full of nutrients, and needed by the body
There's an interesting article on food allergy V intolerance, and the people who do those tests.. dunno if its worth reading?
Thank you for the food allergy link. Not sure what to trust anymore. I have experienced hives many times that led me to taking the tests, my worst was during a trip to Paris where I ate a variety of breakfast spreads that I found out after reasearch was created with soy, which seems to be the worst of all the foods for me. I have tried to stay away from the other foods and as of yet have not experienced another head to toe rash, but some smaller hive outbreaks. So many of the foods I tested positive for are foods this diet suggests not eating that I felt there could be some similarities.
You poor thing, thats real miserable. And frustrating to say the least. Have you the support of a good doctor, who could perhaps send you off to a allergy specialist? I hope so. I'm not so sure on a lot of the pay-mega-bucks allergy people because I've been twice and got told different things, and a very very long list, basically allergic to food! I think food diary is a good way to find out for sure which triggers off attacks?
Of course no expert, but I'd guess it may be linked to this being most rashes are to do with candida. But have you got checked out for thyroid too? That can also cause some problems. Best of luck, big time.
Some Vodka's are made from Rye, potato too, just emailing Smirnoff to try and find out. Also I've read many times about vodka and yeast, this I just got from a newspaper:
"
Calories: 55 per 25ml shotThe purest of all alcohol - it is distilled so well that no yeast remains, so you can drink it if on a yeast-free diet. Vodka is also the least likely of all alcoholic drinks to give you a hangover, as it is free of preservatives, congeners and colouring. One scientific analysis found vodka had only a tiny amount of the toxic alcohol methanol, so is less likely to cause the unpleasant after-affects of drinking too much."Good innit?!!
Email from Smirnoff - red label:
Smirnoff Red Vodka is corn based but does contain grains. It does not contain Barley, Hops, Malts, Oats, Potatoes, and Wheat. We do strongly recommend that you first consult with your Doctor before you consume any type of alcohol.
Once again, thank you for contacting Smirnoff. We look forward to serving you in the future!
Sincerely,
Richard D. Smirnoff Vodka Consumer Response Representative
I was wondering how much of a probiotic can you take?
Thanks. Also I went to the doctor and he did blood test for candida, I do have it and he had put me on the diet and then nystatin a couplemonths later did another blood test and it had come down but still not in normal range, he told me to stay on the nystatin, and then in a couple months we will retest this past week I went back in another blood test still waiting the results. but he told me to stop taking the nystatin and that when he got the test results back he would probably put me on diflucan? anyway I'm not real excited about this i have never been one to take medication not even asprin I have had antibiotics a few time in my life, and a few years ago had a lot of dental work done a lot of old fillings and dentist said we need to put crowns on them so I started one at a time having crowns put one not knowing about the issue with silver fillings I was going to a regular dentist and now have heard that all the issues i have had over the past few years could be related to murcury toxisity? I'm just wondering if this is the case and that the cadida is caused by it and if so will diet work or do I need to go to a dentist who knows about this sort of thing and have all my crowns redone? and also what about root canals I have also had several of those. Thanks so much for your help and insight.
Sheila
Hello ! Love your site! I just started a candida diet 11 days ago, already feel great, was losing weight already and have more energy...i have really limited my diet and eventually will add things back one at a time to keep control of things...I just added almond butter the last couple days, and am not sure if this is the reason i have started crashing in the afternoon? This was my common problem prior to the diet. And put three lbs back on...
Also, I am still a little constipated like i was before - can i add some ALL BRAN to my oatmeal in the mornings? All I eat are vegetables, lean meat, oatmeal, eggs, bit of plain yogurt, and it is not helping.
One more question - Does candida cause a common problem of sore/tenderness of the lymphnoyds (neck, under arms, and boobs) Also if I sneak in a quick bath, my symptoms re-occurred (itchiness, like a yeast infection is coming back)
Thanks so much for your time...
Thank you for your response! It is awsome that you respond to everyone!
I ended up picking up a Fibresmart product from the health store for the constipation, and it has already worked! This has no dairy, gluten, wheat, soy, corn, or yeast. I will stay on this for a while.
After reading on your site, I have decided I can stay on the Ultimate Flora probiotic I was taking, but I am finished with the enzymes I was also taking (CandigoneI CandigoneII and Candizyme) by Saturday. How long can we stay on the Flora probiotic and continue this diet? The treatment I was doing was a 15 day yeast cleanse/detox? Should I do a further 15 days of the enzymes as well? ANNND (sorry) Is this diet supposed to be for always and just eat/drink anything else not on the list in moderation?
I feel great, and do not want to stop it, except for the fact I do feel a bit of a vaginal yeast infection in the last day or so!!??!?....My sugar cravings are stopping, but at times still gets hard, as I used to be up in the middle of the night every night eating/wanting sweets!
Thanks again!
Lise
Thanks for the information, I'm so glad to find you. It is just wonderful for you to take the time to help so many people. I will look for the aquaflora and try that, This week I started to be very strict with the diet and have made fresh veg. juice in the morning to drink, and eaten plenty of salads with raw veg. and nuts as well, I noticed that when I go to the bathroom its kind of loose and looks a little greenish I was wondering if that was from the veggies or something else, also the other day I really felt horrible and then had to go to the bathroom and after I went I felt 100% better?, then the next day I felt bad again and rested most of the morning, in the afternoon I ended up feeling really good ? Any idea on the ups and downs? I thought maybe I was getting worse, but when I start feeling better I thought maybe it was just an adjustment period to the food?
Thanks for the information I am glad to hear that it is a good thing, I have felt pretty good for the last 2 days, this morning when I got up my hands and feet were sweating I could look at them and actually see the moisture, I have had what I would call clamey hands/feet before but not actual sweat dripping off is this my body trying to get rid of the toxins too?
Thanks so much for all of your help.!!!!
I started off my diet from another website which allowed some things that you don't . I would like to know if having one cup of coffee each morning , with cream, and yogurt sweetened with xylitol like I have been doing will sabotage the whole diet or will it just take longer to kill the yeast. I tried going for 5 days without coffee and felt like I was loagy , disconnected , walking in water. Added the coffee back and I feel like maybe I can do without all of my other '' treats''.
How bad am I ? : (
Thank you for your quick reply : )
I came down with rheumatoid arthritis early this summer and have stayed on top of the pain and stiffness by taking many herbal / natural remedies. I was told by someone who knows , to stay away from cane sugar. Big difference. When I ate sugar, I had pain , so I started using xylitol instead of sugar and kept on with the herbs etc .
Since starting this diet , my pain and stiffness have almost disappeared. And I am not really keeping on the alkaline side of the diet very well yet. Connection between sugar/yeast/arthritis ? I certainly think so.
I started adding aloe vera juice in the morning and I take my glucosamine / chondroitin ( with stevia) before bed. Now I wake up without stiffness. What a blessing !
Will I be able to add dairy in a month or two ? I have access to raw milk from organic feed cows. And will I be able to have my cup of coffee after another month ?
Thanks again , you are a very kind lady,
Shellyray
I also noticed that
Am off for my first ever sugar-free holidays, Happy Christmas Wammytk & everyone - thanks for your help :-)
Thanks Wammytk, I will try that.
Merry Christmas !!
Hi! Merry anti-Candida Holidays to all!
If someone is allergic to ragweed, does it mean they can't have Stevia?
Also, if someone can't put their rings on because their fingers are swollen when they get up in the mornings, does that mean they have a food allergy? Need to go back to the very basic anti-candida diet of brown rice and veggies?
s psoriasis caused by a yeast overgrowth in the body? My cousin's 30 something son has this skin disorder and he's obese too. Doesn't know what to do since the psoriasis is really bad, over a lot of his body and to date no doctor has helped!
Great hub!
Hi. May I substitute carob for chocolate? Secondly, I've read so many mixed reviews regarding beans. Aren't they considered complex sugars? Is it normal to feel nauseated on the first couple of days on this diet?
Thanks.
Hi Wammytk
I am new to this diet as well. I have spend a few moments reading all the posts from previous candida sufferers. I still have a couple questions if you would not mind helping me out...
First, I am just starting this diet today. It's my second attempt at doing this right but did not have the information i do now on my first attempt. I visited a naturopath and found out I also have a food sensitivity to eggs and dairy as well as the Candida. I have been provided with a substitute for eggs, made from ground Flax seed. I can not get French meadow as I am in Canada, but I have a bread called Little Stream which is also gluten, yeast and sugar free.. this has been Candida approved. Can i eat this in my early stages? i read something about maybe having to wait a month...
Second question is if i slip up... am I starting ALL over again? Let say one day a month from now I break down and cheat with something tiny... am I back to square one on this or if in moderation when I do cheat will I bounce back.
Also, i have been given Bentonite, Caproil and a couple other things to take daily to help speed up the candida recovery. Apparently like an "internal scrub". Have you any idea if this works or if it's just money to be made on my naturopaths end?
Thank you for your help!

Hi again,
Thank you so much for all the information. I thought of a few foods I am unsure of and was wondering if you could tell me if they are ok?
Green, red, orange or yellow peppers
Sweet Potatoes
Squash (butternut and so on.. I know I can have spaghetti squash, but really like soups made from butternut squash and sweet potatoes)
Also, I found unsweetened Vanilla almond milk... it's from "Almond Breeze" not sure if you have this brand in the U.S. Do you think I can drink this or are their forbidden ingredients?
-A
Thanks again! I will avoid the Vanilla. I did not notice the any type of sugar in the Vanilla as it was the unsweetened version. i could never find it before and i came across some at the health food store last night. However, the original for sure does not list any form of sweeteners or can sugar. So I can still drink the plain unsweetened kind? Also, do you know of any soy sauce that can be used on this diet?
Always greatful :o)
-A
Great! Thank you so very much :o)
Thanks for the great and informative site. I have had several friends do this type of diet with great results. Just get a little confused about all the different sites I think I'll stick with yours, it seems to be the most extensive:) I am just about to start, I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind. I was wondering abourt Kashi 7 grain puffed cereal. It does have winter hard red wheat as 1 of the grains. Should I avoid this? Also is inulin (fiber Sure only ingriedient listed 0 sugar) allowed? Thanks a bunch for all the information that you provide to everyone
Hi Wammytk!
I was wondering if olives of any kind or capers are permited on the Candida diet?
-A
I have been following this diet faithfully for a month and my symptoms lessoned for a week, but now they are back in full force. Could this mean that I have a yeast strain that is not candida?
Hello,
What are the chances of you having a oatmeal cookie receipe for the candida diet? Any chance? I need some for of baked good... and it's only been 4 days. yikes
A
Ok... I will avoid both. I saw black olives in one of your bean salads and had a glimmer of hope. Thanks again! You are such a wonderful resource and all your help is truly very very appreciated.
Hi again,
I am hoping you can perhaps help clear up some confusion I have with respect to flour andsemolina. I was told I can have organic Spelt pasta, but all I can find are organic pastas that still have semolina in them. Am I correct in thinking I am not allowed to have anything with semolina while on the diet?
Thank you,
Amarillis
Wow, my boyfriend has Candida, so I've been doing a lot of research. That website of recipes is awesome! I just made Karen's cornbread. 2 thumbs up! I also made homemade caeser dressing- better than any store bought and no vinegar. Wammy, I cut up little pieces of Mortadella and fried them so he thinks he's eating bacon. Can he have that? I know you say no ham, but I was under the impression it was cured meats. You're doing a great job helping everyone here! I'm glad I found you! Kat
Hi wammytk,
I posted a long while ago. I've been on moderate forms of the candida diet ever since, and have been on the full, first phase candida diet for a week and a half now. while it's not the greatest way to do it, i found it helpful to take some time to get used to the different ingredients, ways of cooking, etc. before going on the full no sugar, no yeast, no gluten version (i'm allergic to milk and soy, so that also made it harder to find what to eat!). it's made a huge improvement in my health, with my asthma, allergies, and other auto-immune problems.
I have a few questions... most of them short!
1) How long should a person wait before using small amounts of honey or agave?
2) Why is caffeine bad? Is black tea always bad?
3) If you cheat (like have a bite of a cookie) how bad is that? does it set you all the way back? with the moderate form of the diet i allowed myself a bite of almost anything. once people get better is it ok to have an occasional dessert, or should they be avoided altogether?
4) How few carbs should people have when they first start out? I'm trying to go as low as possible, and made it about a week with very, very low carbs, but I find myself a little too short on blood sugar to keep it up so I end up eating whole grain rice. I exercise a good bit so I need the energy.
5) (this is the longer question) why are mold and fermentation such big issues with candida? does this have anything to do with household mold (to which i'm very allergic, and after exposure to which i got very sick?) why can't we eat regular vinegar (a fermented food), but we can have apple cider vinegar?
sorry to have so many questions, and thanks as always!
Thank you so much for your answers to all my questions! This is a huge help as I figure out what to do!
Debb,
Hello. I have suffered from candida for 3 years now and i have tried a more strict diet were no high carbs are allowed, no fruit, sugar, grains, nuts and seeds, or dairy are allowed. Basically i was eating non-starchy vegetables, a lot of fat from coconut oil and olive oil, and a really high protein diet. i was on it for a while, but my symptoms never cleared uo. Also i felt malnourished being on such a strict diet for so long. so i went off the diet and my candida is worse because i started eating sugar and other foods like bread, pecans and cashews that are not good for candida. but i wanted to eat them in order to gain weight since i was so skinny from being on the previous anti-candida diet. now my weight is back up there so i want to try and correct my candida. i was trying the low-fat diet where sugar found in fruits are allowed. ( That one guy has a theory about how fruit and low fat diets cure candida because fat makes sugar stay in the bloodstream longer). But i cannot give up fat completey. i did not have my period for a year because i was so underweight and now i have had it for 2 months and feel like i need some fat and more then he recommends in order to have hormones working. So i am really confused if this diet works or not. Can you tell me hnonestly if it cures candida and how long should i remain on this diet for? I am so confused about how to cure candida. So many people tell you different things. Thank you so much for your help!!
Hello Wammytk
Can I use Becel olive oil - no salt margarine instead of the clarified butter?
Amarillis
So Canola is not allowed either? What about reagular salt? I don't think i can have anything but Sea salt but i am not sure what it is in these two items that makes it that I am not allowed to have them...?
What do you think of fresh Cassava root? Is that ok to eat?
I see Cassava flour on your list as ok to eat, just wondering about the fresh one, I love that stuff. What about Yerba Mate teas? When you say daily detox tea is ok to drink, what brand do you recommend?
I have leaky gut to go along with vaginal yeast infection for a few years now.Every month, bout 10 days before my period I feel extremely itchy and "raw" with burning urination. I also go to the bathroom very frequentlyAny advice and opinion you can offer would be appreciate it....... I am 44 yrs old and wondering if I have hormonal problem that causes these health issues on top of the taking those antibiotic for Urinary Tract Infection a few years ago.
I have been taking AquaFlora for a few days and today was really careful not to cheat and I feel good this evening.
Thank you so much for creating this site and sharing your knowledge to help people.
Wammytk,
I was under the impression I could not have walnuts or pecans. Was I wrong! Another thing i was thinking about is if I can have ground meat..like hamburger meat in things. I know many processed meats are out, but I am not sure if I can or can not have hamburger.
Your thoughts?
Thank you for responding so quickly and providing links about cassava roots. That's too bad, I love that stuff.........
I have few more questions.
I read from the previous posting that soft goat cheese is ok, do you mean chevre? what's wrong with hard goat cheese?
About soaking tampon, do you use AquaFlora High Potency? Do you do this every day?
What do you think of maltitol? There is a dark chocolate bar I love from Trader Joe, it has no sugar, they use maltitol.
Thank you so much for your help.
i have been on the diet for a week. Two things. TOnight i made italian wedding soup and used quionoa for the pasta supplement. I used organice free range chicken broth but i just looked at the ingredients and it says that there is evaporated cane juice in it and some yeast thing. Can i not eat it now, i already had a little bowl before i looked? I also have been feeling awfuly, came down with a fever last night and aches and bad cough this morning. My mouth is also ithcy and i have red itchy bumps on the corner of my mouth on my lips. I dont know how long i can keep this up if i keep feeling like this, any thought?
If I don't give up coffee, should not even bother with the rest of the diet?
Hello Wammytk
I am wondering if there is something i am doing wrong... I have been doing this diet now for about 4 weeks and I do feel better somewhat.. but I was told I would feel horrible first for like 2 weeks. I have not had any kind of illness since I started other then maybe a headache for 3 days when I was killing out the caffeine. Is this because of something I must be still eating that is forbidden on the diet?
This early in the diet should I be avoiding allowable flours or oat meals... I'm starting to think I am not doing something right! Where are the withdrawals caused by the candida dying off... is it still too early to feel the dying off symptoms?
questionable things i may be eating that i need your expertise on ;o)
dried Peas, I eat them as a snack... Grape tomatoes are in alot of things I make, or tomatoes in general. I have oatmeal, no name quick oats for breakfast each day.. the ingredients says rolled oats only... Should I be eating Potatoes in moderation? I don't have them often now but I did make home made potato chips the other day. Are they allowed if fried in Olive oil?
This I just an idea of what I think I may be eating and should be avoiding all together. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

Ordered a blood test from my Dr and they said it's such a rare condition that they didn't even stock the correct "tube" for the test. The CDC's web site says it's rare as well. Also, ketosis will occur in people that don't eat enough carbs whch can lead to kidney and liver damage.
Has anyone else been told by their Dr that this test is rare and so forth?
Is there any real science to back up what people like Atkins say? I am not doubting it so much as just making sure this is what I have.
The one thing that confuses me more than any other is the differences between recommended diets. I have been told coffee is just fine as long as it's decaf (and that's because caffeine slows liver function), and all kinds of other things are OK that are not OK on other's lists.
I hear Aqua Flora is a miracle, then I hear ThreeLac is a miracle and Aqua Flora is a scam, then Nystatin is the only "cure" and al alt remidies are a joke, on and on and on. By the time you get to the point where you're on three different homeopathic remides, two chemical prescriptions and a diet that's next to impossible to follow, you are totally worn out, frustrated, and completely broke from these 30+ dollar/bottle cures that you have to take for 6 or 8 months or possibly forever (AquaFlora 2 xtra strength bottles for two months, 2 medium strength for 2 months, 2 bottles reg strength for 2 months--repeat if necessary).
I don't know about the rest of the people here, but I sure as hell know I can't afford organic AB free meats and eggs, cold-pressed oils, etc... not for 6 to 8 months at least.
I am not slamming people that believe they may have this, nor am I trying to dissuade people from trying the supposed cure. All I am saying is for me personally, I am to the point where it almost doesn't matter what the conquences are because I can neither afford the cure, or the weight the cure is going to take off of me (I am already border-line under-weight).
If I could afford to see a naturopath (or even a Dr that understood imbalances like this) then I certinely would, but as it stands the insurance I do have is so limited that I can scarcely get a simple cholesterol test let alone one that is "so rare that only people on their death beds from AIDS and such have" <-- a quote from my Dr.
So, this leaves me where? I guess I have to start Googling a new search string; one similiar to:
"Will Candida eventually kill me if I can't afford the cure"
Thanks for the info. So my lips have gotten worse. So swollen and i am entirely itchy. My mouth is itchy and the roof of it is swollen. MY mouth has been like this for almost a week. I also am beginning to think maybe i am allergic to either eggs or cashews i have been eating those non stop. Yesteday i stopped eating the nuts but had eggs in the morning. Today i have had nothing. Any thoughts>
Does AquaFlora actually kill the candida yeast?

Hi,
I have spent countless hours reading books and articles about ways to kill off my candida. I have been on the diet for a few weeks and had horrible die off symptoms. Just as I started feeling better I found out that I needed a root canal and was prescribed an antibiotic because it was infected. I have doubled up on taking my probiotcs and natural antifungal meds so that I do not back track. I am feeling very sluggish and aching again though. Is there anything else that I can do while I am taking the antibiotics. Please Help!! Thanks
Probably thee most comprehensive article written on candida over-growth issues:
http://www.cfs-recovery.org/docdarren2.html
Note the part about people that have severe candida over-growth:"Natural antifungal products are far too weak to have any significant effect or else they would be used in cases of severe mycosis."Go see your Dr, get on prescription meds. To CoffeeJunkie: don't waste your money on so-called natural cures, they don't work in people that have a bad case of this awful stuff. Granted, it can't hurt to take them, but what you need is a fungicide, and these natural products are (at best) fungistatics.
The diet is most likely a forever deal, unless your infection level is restricted to the intestines, then you'll eventually be able to go back to a mostly-normal diet. But again, if you have leaky gut from it, you're pretty much never gong to eat normal again, and you'll be on meds for the rest of your life.
Awesome, isn't it, what food companies have done to us? If you want to make a difference then find a really, REALLY good lawyer to file a class action law suit on the food companies. I'll sign it.
Thanks for the responses. I do have a an allergist who specializes in candida. I have been avoiding getting a prescription for nystatin just because I already had really bad die off symptoms and at this point the less prescription drugs I can take the better. Having this condition is the worst thing ever but I am so grateful that I have finally figured out what has been wrong with me for so long. Im going to keep on trucking and you have anything positive to say about Nystatin I could maybe consider it further.
So glad I found this site!!!
i wonder if it would be OK to take aquaflora AND sf722 at the same time???
sf722 is undecylenic acid. any idea?
Hey Wammy, I have a question. I picked up a book called The Bible Cure recipes for overcoming candida by Don Colbert, MD. In the book he talk about stevia but also says that splenda is acceptable. I go between stevia and splenda. I have noticed however that I am experiencing some issues. don't know if it is related. What is your take on using splenda?
Thanks

Cool Video...
Hello - I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found this! I have started a Candida diet this past week (I am on my third day) and have found so many conflicting lists on what is good to eat and what is not. I have suffered (literally) with stomach problems for the past 5 years and have tried everything from probiotics to getting a xylose breath test done at my doctors only for it to come back negative. I stumbled upon the aquaflora line at my health food store and the owner said it works extremely well for the people that have used it, including herself. I do have some questions: I did start back on birth control and am leary to get off of it again; I know that it contributes to candida but by how much and is it rally necessary to get off of it? Also, the health food store owner said that organic, sugar free peanut butter is ok to use (she and other people that have been on the candida diet have used it with no problem) is this ok? Also, I am a personal trainer and have been feeling a huge energy sap from being on this diet. What can I do (besides the obvious sleep and exercise regimen) to keep my energy levels up? I know that with this diet you feel worse before you feel better again but about how long does that process take?
Thank you SO much for the quick response! It's so nice to hear that I can eat peanut butter! It is my favorite food and the primary source of protein I live on :) I am on the lowest hormone birth control pill as well. And it's great to know that this will subside over the next couple of weeks. The primary problem that I'm facing is a lot of flatulance that has become apparent with everything that I eat. ( Hey I'm being honest! this IS what this blog is for and I need the advice!) I noticed that, even while being on the program for the past three days, I am still experiencing it. Is this something that will dissipate over time as well as the lack of energy?? I would like to think that, like you had stated, my body is getting used to this product and the diet and just needs time to even itself out. Am I right in assuming that?
Can you tell me if using vegtable glycerin is ok?
Are the die off symptoms similiar to the candida symptoms? All my sysptoms came back today with a vebngence but I ate a small handful of blueberries and blackberries so I am not sure which is causing this. Could eating 15 blueberries and 6 balckberries really erase everything I have done over the last 5 days of supplements and 10 days of diet?
http://www.timelesshealth.net/ This is the same guy that does the kefir videos. Enter your name and email to get all his cleansing techniques. This is amazing.

Also: I have eated a jar of sauerkraut (cabbage/salt/water) in about the past three weeks and have had substantial improvment with my psorasis with little or no change to my diet.
I think I figured out what's causing my relapse. Red, yellow and orange (especially red though) bell peppers have A LOT of sugar. As a matter of fact, they have more sugar as a lot of fruits. Green peppers have a good amount as well.
I am not using AF, I am using something called SF722 which is Undecenoic Acid, and Primadophilus.
I couldn't afford the AF so hopefully this SF722 works.
Hi Everyone, great blog, very informative!! I have been doing the candida diet on and off for the last couple of months and have done HEAPS of research about the condition. I agree that there is lots of conflicting advice out there. I actually bought an e-book from yeastinfectionnomore.com which has helped me a lot. The diet is rather strict (recommending limited meat, eggs etc, and mainly raw food). The book has heaps of info about treating symptoms, supplements and other beneficial lifestyle changes (sleep optimisation, stress relief, detox etc).
One very important factor that has not really been mentioned here is healing leaky-gut syndrome - this allows the yeast to get out of the digestive system and into other parts of the body. Until this is fixed the chances of eradicating yeast entirely is small. I am taking colostrum for this, and have noticed good results so far.
I agree with coffeejunky; you could spend a fortune on all of these supplements and supposed cures. My advice is to do lots of research and only take what you think you really need. I am using Candigest Plus - it digests the yeast cells so there is no die-off effect.
With regards to food, I have always had a very sweet tooth and thought giving up sugar would be impossible. I don't use any sugar substitutes and find that once the yeast is under control, my sugar cravings are almost gone - it was the yeast craving the sugar, not me!! If I feel like something sweet after dinner I drink nut milk or tea made from liquorice root or fennel seeds (both are very sweet and have a great flavour).
Good luck everyone. Stick at it. It can be really hard, but you get to a point where feeling great and healthy is far more satisfying than a burger or a chocolate bar!
Hey Wammy, I've been suffering from Candida over the last ten years and no doctors could ever diagnose my problem. Some said it was nothing wrong with me, one doctor thought I had a vaginal herpes, the other one I had endometriosis etc... Sexual intercourse was just not possible with my new husband and it lead into major deppression on both sides. It took me two years to discover what was wrong with me.. and finally researching on the internet I started to realize it could be a chronic yeast infection and everything else connected with it... I had muscle pains, loss of memory, bad concentration, loss of my vision, stomach cramps and PMS, depression etc etc... Finally I found an alternative doctor in Europe who started healing me with the bio feedback. He gave me probiotics, I had to drink alkaline water and eat alkaline foods - and of course very little carbs. I felt the difference immediately. He said that the ph balance of my urine was so acidic as if I would have been already 70 years old and I am only 30. Of course everything started with the usage of too many antibiotics in a short period of time...Basically how it started (and I needed to use tons of memory!!) is with an infection of my ankle which I broke when I was only 13 years old...So it got so sore one week in the summer (I was 18) that I needed antibotics and so on and so on... I took aprox 3 to 4 different types in about 6 months of period...So that's how it all started and since then I never knew and of course never really enjoyed sex...Right now I am on my diet.... still struggling.. I am vegetarian so it is hard for me not to eat carbs.. I do eat a lot of soy products like: tofu, tempeh, seitan...etc. I do eat eggs and I drink only soy milk, doctor said I was alergic to milk and wheat... So I can find my way around with veggies etc.. but what I really lack is chocolate... or something sweet... Do you know any good recepies that would replace chocolate? Thank you! I really appreciate your answer...
Hi Wammy ~
Ok, I have had a HUGE setback. Valentines day came and went and so did the sugar, I had cake, I had cashews, I had crystal light, I had fruit that I thought was allowed and it wasn't. This was only during the weekend but with that said and done, am I going to have to start all over again? my stomach did react a little but not nearly with the severity and the duration that it normally does. Please let me know your thoughts. I feel like I erased absolutely EVERYTHING that i did for the last two weeks...What should I do in regards to the aqua flora supplement that I am taking? What should I do overall? I really was noticing a huge difference...HELP!!!
Thank you Wammy soooooo much!!! I am sure I will get back to you... you are really such a blessing for all of us who suffer from candida... God bless u!
great tips, i sure can work on these. Another tip for you consideration here

Thank-you for this site. I was wondering if unflavored jello is ok. I like to take 2 packs of unflavored jello and mix it with one flavored one. My daughter has endrometrioce is this from yeast?
Hi wammytk,
I am a candida sufferer from South Africa and have just started to follow the candida diet 3 days ago......it's going well so far.....
I would like to know if polenta is allowed on the candida diet?
thanks!
Dear Wammy,
I am new to this candida thing. I have had a chronic cough (mostly after eating) for about 3 years now, and have discovered that it was due to allergies/asthma/acid reflux. I have been trying to get rid of the acid reflux through raw food diet, taking out dairy and wheat, taking orange peel extract, papaya enzymes etc. Nothing really worked. And I tried the candida diet and my coughing went away, my skin cleared up- and I feel much better. So now I am excited, yet frustrated again. I'm taking all sorts of things- solaray yeast cleanse, coconut oil 3X a day, black walnut hulls, esther-C, grapefruit seed extract, and probiotics. Am I taking the right things? And should I take them every day, or rotate them? I've read many articles on line, but am not sure which one I should go by. Also- I have been losing too much weight, which I am worried about- because I've mainly been eating veggies and meat. I'm scared to eat anything with carbs- I tried to eat a bowl of rice the other night, and my cough came back, and my throat was sore and it was back to my old symptoms. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!!
wammytk, I have some great info on Kefir for you. email me at kev_willy@msn.com and I will send it to you
Hi There!
I am wondering about soy milk (sugar free obviously!), soy beans whole (edamame), kamut pasta, green tea, blueberries (I know this is a fruit, but they are high antioxidants), digestive enzymes (are these just probiotics???), cottage cheese etc! I am also looking for replacements in my morning smoothie for the organic berries and organic fat free probiotic yogurt that I use (must compliment the udo's oil and hypoallergenic brown rice protien I use and stay within the 300-350 calorie area!!) I'm not picky at all hey?!!!
I definitely have candida, been diagnosed from a few different alternative health care providers, but being treated by a gastroenterologist as if I have ulcers! The pain is not that of searing hot acidic gushing pain! It's the described discomfort of candida symptoms! He gave me the Nexium, but I haven't started taking it, wanting to find out about treating my condition the most natural way possible first before turning to the dreaded "conventional" medicine!
Thank you so much for all your time, information and general compassion you have to us candida sufferers...
Tropiclaire....
I have been on the Candida diet for a little over a month after being sick for a month. This is quite the mystery illness. No fruit, sugar, carbs. The only thing I have eaten is vegtables, almonds, and fish, chicken, eggs. I made yesterday a rice pancake (brown rice flour, brown rice, water.) My throat seems to go really dry after. Is this a reaction? I have lost 25 lbs. in 9 weeks...and now weigh 120lbs. I don't want to loose more weight. I use olive oil alot and eat almonds and black olives. Can you eat the "acceptable flours" and "grapefruit" at this point or should I wait another 2 months? I'm just scared to eat the wrong thing. Also is plain goat yogurt and regular butternut squash?
Thank you kindly.... I'm starting to feel very depressed : (
I just wanted mention a fantastic book I have had for years that is all about candida and restoring your immune system. "The Body Ecology Diet: Recovering Your Health and Rebuilding Your Immunity" By Donna Gates. This book is the BIBLE for dealing with Candida and I am so happy I found it!! It gives you extremely detailed info on how and why we are so sick from this, and how many elements can work together to heal. (also has wonderful recipes and meal plans)
Just wanted to say thankyou for your very informative website. I have recently started with an anti-candida diet after fertility drugs triggered it. Have now discovered it could be the cause of the infertility in the first place - incredible! Like many others on your site, I was starting to get down about just eating chicken, vegetables and fish with some pumpkin seeds. Your colourful food lists make everything look a bit brighter.
Hi, I've just found a great website for checking the amount of sugar in all foods:
www.calorieking.com
My nutritionist said that in time I should start to introduce some fruits but very little at a time. She said organic strawberries and blueberries and I have to admit that although she's a very knowledgeable woman and is usually always right, I didn't quite believe strawberries are so low in sugar. I went onto the above website and made a list of the Top ten fruits that are lowest in sugar. It's quite surprising that strawberries, raspberries and pineapple have much less sugar than say, grapefruit. Hope this helps anyone who is being told to reintroduce it in their diet. It will certainly be a plus for me when I'm able to do so as I'm having trouble keeping my calorie count up even with the organic almonds I'm eating!!!
Hi!
Thanks for your wonderful insightful web page! I have since researched more and have found a way to make this work for my life and lifestyle, however it's not easy! I was wondering about organic butter and lactose free cheese and other dairy products? Is it the lactose that's the issue or the actual casein or what? Please, if you could let me know if the organic and lactose free choice of dairy is at all suitable for the treatment of candida.
Thank you so much
Thank you. I've been on the diet about a month and 1/2 now. Still haven't eaten any fruit and the only grain has been "teff" with a bit of Xylitol. When I eat the Xylitol my throat and tongue start to get dry and tingle. The same thing goes for when I eat almond butter that I made. It said it was o.k. for you to roast your own "organic" almonds. But after I eat it the same thing happens. I just finished taking Nyostatin yesterday, for the last month. I feel like my throat (no cough) is great in the morning until I eat something and then I can feel it start to react as mentioned. Does this go away and could i be doing something better?
I have heard about this diet! And some people say they even lost weight after some time. But what really helpls is this http://tinyurl.com/cbc5ao
Hi, I'm getting a little worried about the weight loss. I needed to lose a few kilos but lost 3 the first week and 1.5 last week. I know this is far too much. If it contiues like this weekly, I'll be skin and bone in 2 weeks. I know worry is all part of the process but have started to worry about pancreatic cancer! Sorry to sound raving but my husband just says not to worry and I daren't mention anything to my mum as she would panic even more.
I finished the Nyostatin 3 days ago and my tongue is starting to get white again and feeling raw. I am so at a loss. I'm on a pro-biotic 12,000 per day. : (
Thanks Wammy for your attentiveness. I'm orignally from the UK but live in Spain. My mother had candida for a long time and was able to get a drink called ENSURE in most countries she visited. It comes in many flavours and she believes was the most pleasant of the high-calorie drinks. The coffee flavour was best, if anyone is thinking of trying it.
I go for acupuncture and the practitioner said yesterday that the weight loss is normal. She believes that the candida had caused me to put on weight in the last few years and that my body was just getting rid of excess weight. In Chinese medecine they talk about candida causing 'stagnation' in the body, hence why, when not treated, people start to gain weight.
The diet has left me with lots of energy and feeling much trimmer so I'm going to stop worrying and enjoy it!
Something for Phoebe: I don't know what Nyostatin is but I don't take it. I'm on Lamberts Acidophilus 4, a multivit, Oregano Complex and Oxypro by Biocare, garlic tincture and chelated magnesium (Solgar). All prescribed by a nutritionist. I also take Taurine by Solgar 30 minutes before breakfast in the morning for clarity of thoughts. With Wammy's diet and these supplements, I haven't had the white or yellow ( as mine was) tongue for two weeks. I've put down the brands as my nutritionist has each supplement studied for its effectiveness.
Hope this helps someone.
Vanessa
Thanks for this wonderful information.
That is a good balance that we should adopt to have a more healthty living.
Wow that's a big coincidence. I live in Sevilla!!! It's a great place but then San Fran looks just as wonderful.
Did you or anyone have problems with legumes? I get a really raw throat and feel tired after chick peas. I made a big mistake today and ate some cannelini beans. Thought I was going to fall asleep driving to work! Had the aircon in the car blowing on my face full blast so I didn't all asleep. Have just noticed they aren't on your list.
Have just done what my nutritionist advised and included some strawberries - 90g - that's 3 strawbs. Hope I tolerate them as it is strawberry season here and it's killing me. Only 0.3g sugar to 100g.
Im happy to know you and your suggestion but im little confused about my diet as i always maintained good diet but my candida is in bad shape now.Doctors made my life misserable i guess hhhahahaha as they never talkee about Candida .Anyway now i know what im suffering from .And today will be my 1st day of fasting and starting with a good diet but now im very sacred of eating anything.Im indian vegeterian so i love vegeis but how about lentin .I love lentin. Please suggest me.I love banana as well and last few years i ate them like anything ! Take care and God bless.
I notice that black tea is on your list of non acceptable drinks, are green tea and peppermint tea ok
There are some great tips on the site but are the likes of prawns, shrimps, crab etc ok to eat?

Question? I think I have candida and have been on the diet 2 months now. I went to see a Natropath and she doesn't think i have candida. She said that they(2 other Dr.s) tested (stool)..(twice) and (1) swab in the mouth test and the reports came back negative. So she wants to retest. She says there are other things that can cause a "white tongue".
Is it possible for all those tests to come back "negative" and still have Candida?
Kindly, Pheobe
Hi- I have not read all the comments so I apologize if this has been answered already.
however has anyone used threelac before?
Hi great site!!! I have used Aqua Flora in the past and loved it. I would like to run my whole family through a candida diet and cleanse. Can you tell me what I can do for my three year old who loves her juice. We use fruit and veggies juice and she drinks 1% milk everyday. I am sure she needs this as much as my husband and myself. We are a big dairy family and frit and veggie family. She does love tofu though. I feel terrible as I thought we had a very balanced diet. I have a kid who will eat anything from basic to exotic. I think this diet will work for me but keeping the husband and the little one on it will be tough do you have any suggestionsÉ
Also we all take fish oils she takes Effalex and us a supplemental tablet. So we have to stop theseÉ Is the aqua flora safe for my daughter 3 1/2 to take she is 34 pounds? Thanks for all of your great information
I struggle over what to have for breakfast, any suggestions?
Hi there,
Its been almost 3 weeks im following Candida diet but still waiting for someone to buy me Aqua Flora. My ulcers on my lips and itchiness is getting better but its on and off which i don’t mind. Tummy bloating is also much better than b4 but still anything i eat i do have palpitation in my stomach and hopefully i will get better .only im still confused about my diet as im vegetarian but i think i will start eating fish or else i hardly find food for myself .Yesterday i ate pears but its very sweet so i got scared in fact now im really sacred of eating anything which is not good at all. Can i drink coconut water? Im taking pau D Arco 2 capsules with meal , si it ok? I don’t know im feeling very week. Can i take normal puffed rice(white rice) . And how to get hemp powder , here no one have any ideas about Hemp.Im in Malasia.Oh i wish you were here in front of me so that i would ask you everything i need to know now .Its been long time i suffered for Candida without knowing. I have my blood test obviously it doesn’t say i have Candida but anyways i want to take care of myself now. And i know i can do it if you are with me.
Take care and have a wonderful evening there.

This is the best colon cleanse you can get. Highly recommended before you start any type of diet or fasting. I learnt that the hard way. Great to even do once a year for that matter
Hi,
As you can understand im getting better because of my quietness.Im doing good with my candida diet only my breakfast , as i always used to take mixed fruits juice before and now i really dont know what to eat , I do want but im confused and as im taking Garlic juice (1 tea spoon in the morning in empty stomach) and after that falxseed oil with small amount of yogurt and 4/5 almonds which is socked over night and then i dont know what to eat but i can feel i must have morning break fast .I was doing well but then again for the last 2 days ulcers, itchy...........and one more new thing added rashes in my fingers.Itchy, redness and then skin started pelling.Obviously slightly bloating is also there .Its very hot now a days here so i had taken coconut water last 3 days , do you think its safe for me ?I have ordered Aqua flora and oil of oregano on line .lets see when i get them.Having Avocado only as fruit and its very expensive here .Life is becoming very expensive slowly!!!! hahahha
Take care.

Hi.
Have you received any e-mail from me?
Love.
Meghna.
Thanks Wammy for your great advice to so many people, it has helped me a lot.
What I was wondering was, if I am pretty diligent, how long does it take to get the Candida under contol? I have been following the strict diet for about 4 weeks now, but still feel a bit average, not back to my usual energetic self. I see various comments about months to years, and comments like it takes one month for each week that you have had candida, so I am wondering how long it takes?
regards John J
Hi Dear.
Still waiting for your reply at my gmail and eagerly waiting for your recipes.I have a good news , have got Aqua Flora ( high potency) as i have learnt this is the one to start with, right? And after that phase 1 and then 2 .As i told you my rashes are getting worse now on my shoulders and in thumb but yes im taking it easily and i do hope everything is gonna be fine soon .Only my food , im travelling on the 8th and i dont know how will i manage when i cant take even bread , not even oat .Please tell me when i take Aqua flora then after how long i should take garlic juice which im taking every mroning 1 tea spoon. And how about the spyllium ,everything is supposed to be taken in a empty stomach but how , im getting so confused.
Take care.

Hi Tammy, I am back again with some unbelieavbe info
http://www.timelesshealth.net/ebook/ I finally bought his book tonight I've been reading it non stop all night. Not even 1/4 into and I have learned so so much. This is some info you will not find anywhere else. Absolutly amazing, I cannot even begin to explain the stuff in this book. Find out why you feel so hungry in your diet and how to get all the nutrients and enzymes you are missing. Tammy this is a must read for you, this is info we must pass on to everyone.... =)
thank you for this information
I've been on the Diet for 3 months now. I am feeling much better than I was in January. The white on my tongue is gone. However, I'm still not eating anything with sugar in it including fruit.. My tongue seems to burn from time to time, alternating with a feeling of alot of saliva being produced. Does anyone else experience this??
Hi Tammy, just wondering if you have gotten into that book yet?? Almost done. I wonder if sprouted grains are ok for candida?
*****Candida diets are very tough and can result in binging and lost hope (been there). But there more answers out there if you just keep looking.
He has also posted has a brand new video course which i believe has everything in the book plus more...

Hi Dear,
I just got Oil of oregano so would you please tell me how will i take it , how many drops and when .I think im getting better only my palpitation is still there specially after my meal and i have noticed its not my food allergy its always there and i guess and hope this will even get better with time. Hope you are doing fine. As I have started enjoying my Candida diet now. Even though I know im getting some sugar from some vegetables as well but I think im doing trying not to get it more . My meals are with no fruits, no wheat, no rice, no east, no SUGAR OF COURSE .Even though this diet is full of with NO but still one can make it interesting if he/she wants and im trying my best to do that. I used to make something like Indian bread with rice flour which now im making with Millet flour and Quinoa flour orBuck wheat flour adding onion, chilli, garlic, ginger, salf and one egg and then I bake it with little olive oil and its so yumm. But im wondering how to get other things because this diet is full of with protein and we need all the vitamins as well .May be slowly one day I will try orange .Im having one Avocado everyday, is it ok?
Take care .
Loads of love.

Hello,
I`ve been on a candida diet for just under two weeks. When will I start to feel better? I feel much the same as usual right now (headaches, clogged sinuses, stomach aches)
I just started the diet today. I am scared that I will not be able to make it.. or that I will successful in ridding some Candida. This site is amazing & the list of what to eat & what not to eat is very informative!!! Thank you!!
Hey! Thanks for the list. What about Turkey? I eat alot of turkey meat instead of beef. I havent read anything on it
Hey! Thanks for the list. What about Turkey? I eat alot of turkey meat instead of beef. I havent read anything on it
Can I eat Watermelon?
How can I do the yeast challenge? I ate pure brewers yeast & felt drained the whole next day, but I also had taken Diflucan. Does that mean I can assume I'm allergic to yeast? Is cream of wheat & oatmeal fine?
Is unsweetened soy milk ok?
Have had enough with Vitiligo? Don’t Give up your hope too soon. Our medically proven Vitiligo Treatment will make you live your life all over again. It’s easy, It’s safe, It’s quick and It’s guaranteed... Have the best Vitiligo Cure at Curevitiligo
Is oatmeal & Cream of Wheat allowed in the first month? What about wheat biscuits? Are you ever allowed to eat sugar substitutes? Is powder Nystatin or candida cleanses better? How many months should it be taken?
Also, if I have to take a pause & eat some carbs on vacation...is anything I've done before been in vain? I've done a strick diet for 1 month, but am going on vacation now & taking a small break & following back up when I get home.
Is Candida ever cured?
Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for the advice!!! It is so comforting having someone to turn to.
I have been on the diet for 5 months. "STRICTLY" Still my mouth burns..some days more than others and occasionally turns from pink to a light white on my tongue only. That is my only remaining symptom. I am at a total loss at this point. It has been doing this for 2 months. I don't know who to go to anymore or what to do. Know one seems to know what to do.
I am just starting the diet..
Not one dr knew what was wrong with me...my symptoms have been acid reflux...belching...and acid tongue
My hubbie came to the conclusion after much research the root is the candita.
My question is...is soy milk ( vanilla allowed)
How about oatmeal cereals?
I am so confused
I just bought some rice milk made from dark rice and it has MORE sugar grams in in than the standard SILK vanilla soy milk ( 8 grams)
I checked both ingredients
Which one is safe to take?
Is vanilla silk ok ..even though it has 8 grams of sugar?
This is just my first week on this diet
ITS SO HARD....but a bit easier with your help and ideas of what i can eat
All this has happenned due to stress in my life...and with 3 kids keeping stress at minimal is very hard
I have lost weight already...not that i wanted to as i am pretty fit
so the SKINNY look is not my ideal:(
I was looking at just regular OATMEAL that you have to cook for 10min
(quaker??)
and with the SILK Vanilla milk
Will that be ok??? i dont want to worsen my symptoms
which are acid tongue...and heartburn ( but its getting much better now)
Hi
Is any chewing gum ok?
First of all, thanks so much for the info. It's so informative, I've found it a huge help :)
Just a few questions re what's allowed: soda bread, oat cakes, chapatis, rye bread all contain wheat flour and sugar but I thought these ingredients werent permitted? Is mineral water, unsweetened soya milk, roasted meats, dried herbs, butter (I've read elsewhere it is allowed), dried jasmine tea leaves (with hot water) permitted?
Not sure if anybody else suffers with a white tongue which gives me bad breath? I've heard this diet could cure it and wondered if anybody else has had it?
Many thanks in anticipation of all your help.
Thanks so much wammytk. You deserve a medal for helping all us sufferers :)
Hi - Do you know anything about candida and eczema? I have been on the diet for almost 3 months, cheated once or twice with a snack or two, still organic, but may have had some type of sweetner in it and i can feel the difference. My skin gets itchy, etc. But, I have been on a homeopathic treatment (4th different kind of holistic treatment) and it seems to be smoothing out my skin and I feel and look much better. Also, do you know if agave is acceptable? Eating whole fruit? I do miss my smoothies. I am also nursing my 14 month old. Any additional advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much for this info. You are a godsend.
I just wanted to say a BIG thank you
I have been on the diet JUST 2 weeks
BUT am noticing a HUGE difference
I dont know what i would do without this site
Dr's think you are nutts and just want to medicate
which is the worst thing you can do
I love your recipes and now am looking forword to getting up in the morning
where just a few weeks ago i was VERY depressed
I cannot wait to slowly add fruit
My kids know what i am going through and are counting the weeks with me
As they know....my first fruit will be yummie CHERRIES
I cannot wait
BTW...i had RED blotchy skin and it has just NOW cleared up after 2 years!!!!
I do have questions after reading some posts
On the first month am i to have no sorts of flour>??i am using buckweat and spelt to make my own cookies with stevia...just the flour i listed /stevia and pumkin seeds as well as unsweetend almond milk and egg
Also most meats are ok and lots of vegies in the first month( the ones you listed) right?
Its just removing all fruits and carbs ...am i correect?
then in the second month or third you gradually add the fruit one a week
right?
Me again
I came back from the grocery store and they had a diabetic section
I would love to buy some candy...but i just didnt recognize any of the ingredients
The grams of sugar was 0
would diabetic candy be ok
to indulge in ??

and the drops its 1 ml 2 times a day as well
Its by renew life
Have you heard of it?
ps great to hear i ca have the candy
LOOKING forward to a little treat
:)
I did this diet for 4 months and felt reasonable on it. Not brilliant, but it was good to eat reasonably healthy! But I just wanted to let people know that I've been diagnosed with Endometriosis which had a lot of the symptoms that lead me to the candida conclusion - Bloating, bad bowels, pain, tiredness. Just wanted to let people know to make sure they keep looking at all causes and dont accept doctors word as final. Its taken me 7 years to get to this conclusion and of course, for me, no amount of food habits would help. Its so nice to eat a more varied diet now too! I missed my fruit and their vitamins.
I am in the first few weeks of cleansing
I would like to ask about this bread
ingredients
stoneground organic whole spelt flour
spring water
organic sour dough
bacterial culture
organic brown rice
salt
ALSO
i made cookies
of spelt flour
buckweat flour
oatmeal ( plain no sugar the one you cook for a long time)
sugarfree soy milk
baking powder with NO alumminum
stevia
pumkin seeds
SHOULD i worry about the amount i eat of the cookies"
??
I have one slice of bread and 4 cookies a day
IS that too much of the flour at this stage of my cleansing?
Thank you
Hi again
Just have a couple of queries about whether I can have the following foods: soda bread (this contains buttermilk, sugar and is high in carbs, which I thought we couldnt have?), wheat flour (everything seems to contain this), sweetcorn, tinned tuna. Must all meat and eggs be organic?
Thanks very much (again) in advance :)
One more thing
How about adding organic cocao to my cookie recipe its pure cacao...not sweet
I am confused again
I found another sire / canadian forum for candida
It says absoluteley nothing with any flour in the first month??
So me baking with buckweat organic flour...i shouldnt eat anything that is bread related or carbs??
It said all i should eat is veggies and meat/eggs/fish
NO rice cakes ...no oat cereal in the first month
Am i ruining what i am trying to fix??
am i feeding this caddida?
I am feeling much better
BUt am i doing it right?
should i remove anything with flour even though the flour is healthy like buckweat and spelt?
please help??
confused
Hi, Thanks so much for taking time out to make such a careful list. You are helping alot of people. Do you know if you can have corn and potatoes? For example, popcorn or fresh corn? Potatoes fried? I know they are starchy veggies so I wasn't sure if allowed. Thanks.
Is the Aqua Flora at the Healthy Living Store good? Do I take it along with my Nystatin? Also, do the Nystatin pills work as efficient as the liquid? How long should I be on Nystatin? How did you do first starting out and how long???
Thanks so much!!!
I feel like a pain...but here goes...is toothpaste ok? Someone told me I should be brushing my teeth with baking soda. They also said only distilled water? Have you read the book called the Yeast Syndrome?
I am on the Orthro Evra birth control patch. I have read about the birth control pills being a contributor. What birth control method is best with this condition?
Also, have you heard of Amphotericin-B? I read that it is very effective taken with Nystatin in 250 mg capsules. One of the names of it is Fungizone. It said that even the patients that were having the most trouble got great results when taking this with Nystatin and Diflucan.
Thanks,
Do you know if the Nystatin pills are just as effective as the powder? They are coated...does that mean they have sugar on them? What is the usual dosage?
Thanks!!!
Thank you very much for your quick response!!! You are a blessing!
I just read that green apples and all berries are ok
is this true??
can i actually have some fruit in the first month
or will i do more damage
how about cherries?? that i have been craving for 3 weeks
?
Also
how about kefir???
I am finding a hard time with brft...i read
brown rice with almond milk ...is ok
or kefir with berries and stevia
thoughts?
I will be starting the aqua flora as you suggested in a week
for the 3 months
Do most patients stay on their birth control? Does it make a big difference with the candida?
Also, do many candida patients get B-12 shots to help with the fatigue while taking Nystatin?
I have Dr Crooks Yeast Connection book and it says cashews are ok...but I didn't see those listed. Also, is a colon cleanse and liver cleanse recommended? Will it help with the candida?
Thank you so much!!!
hi can you please tell me why cous cous is on ur not acceptable foods list?
Also
here is somthing else thats ok to eat
rhubarb!!

I havent started aqua flora yet as i dont get it till later in july ( shipping delay)
I am sooo craving some fruit
:(
i need some advice i am going to Australia in 3 weeks for a month to far north queensland where its humid and tropical. I am starting to get a bit paranoid about the humidity wondering if it could potentially cause or encourage a re growth of the candida that i am desperately trying to get rid of, i will of course stay on my candida free diet and continue taking all of my natural anti fungal remedies but is there a chance of this happening?
I see you have beet greens
Are the beets allowed??
I steam them and made a soup with organic red meat as well as cauliflower and broccoli...safe?
Also
I am feeling better still not 100% but its only been a month
and i have not yet got my aqua flora
Is funny tasting mouth a symptom??
I still get occasion heartburn ...its the burning/acid tasting mouth
thats hard to shake
Hubby is worried it coule be something serious...but after i had the initial testing all the dr said was i had al ulcer/acid reflux and the hernia
I am thinking to give the diet more time and the flora a chance before going to a gastro dr ...any thoughts?
Hi,I'm a 42 yr old woman and I have been having some issues for a very long time now. Have been lightheaded and dizzy-sometimes feel like I've had a few drinks- wont drive my car because of this. 3 mths ago I did a saliva test and was told its a hormonal thing....so now I'm taking progesterone cream and estrogen. At the same time I did the saliva test, I did a blood test at the doctors and he tells me it isnt hormone related. I just got a dry blood test done and was told that my body is full of yeast. I'm going to be doing the aqua flora. Can yeast give you the symptoms I mentioned and can it mess with your hormones, can I still take the progesterone cream and estrogen while taking the aqua flora .I wonder if the whole time I had these symtoms if it was yeast all along. would it hurt to go off the hormones while doing the cleanse. thank you so much for having such a great web site.
This is a great recipe source. However, I am having trouble being able to look at a couple of your recipes, including curry crab salad. When I click on it I get ida message that I am not allowed to edit this hub. Help, please!
Hi
Can you suggest a restaurant chain that will have some SAFE
foods??
I am thinking any steakhouse...get it plain with some steamed veggies??
What did you usually eat for breakfast besides eggs & grits? I eat it everyday and I know your supposed to change it up. Also, Can I have corn chips and corn noodles? When is this allowed?

Can we have organic white rice flour?
Hi
I finally received my aqua flora

I take 2 tablespoons 20 min before brft

Is there absolutely any ice cream we can have...like the no sugar added or something???
Hi Susan
I know chapmans makes no sugar ice cream....and there is one called soo good?? its soy product
BUT from another site i have learned these are still not optimal ( as they have cacao...which has caffeine and thats a no/no
If you want to indulge your best bet would be to make your own
You can google up...dairyfree/sugar free ice cream
and you will see plenty of recipes
I have to wait to intruduce fruit to my diet so i have to be extra caustious still
Good luck
Can we have rice chex or rice puff cereal?
Hi
I started my new treatment with the aqua flora
high potency on sunday
Now the week before i did this i was totally symptom free
( i was still on candida be gone...thats available here in canada)
Now that i have switched treatment some of my symptoms are back
from chest pain to acid tongue
From what i have read i have to give the aqua flora at least 2 weeks to notice a diff
but this seems very odd to me that the switch to new treatment would do this
I bought enough for 3 months and now am wondering did i waste my money?
Thank you for your reply
I may just suck it up and take the 2T dosage
I am feeling a bit better today
So maybe it just needed to KICK IN
it feels so good to be on the proper way of eating
i mean ...not to be craving sweets or coffee
is the best feeling
My life was driven by coffee and the instant fix of sugar
Now life is simple
veggies and some meats and grains
no worrying about anything else
:)
Kefir is ok right??
like half a glass everyday??
I read its very good with probiotics
Also
how about goats cheese/feta??
not a lot maybe a sliver or 2
Another question
is it ok to eat organs of animals
as liver
( organic)
I am thinking of 2 times a week for iron
thoughts?
thank you very much
thanks again
you are the best!
Hi I am very new to this and since my diagnosis with eczema 2 weeks ago coupled with my exisiting frequent yeast infections and horrible sinusitis I made the link on my own with the aid of the wealth of info on the net. I have been on a yeast free diet for the past 11 days ..its difficult both the cravings are tolerable and the weight loss is a great incentive to saying the course. My question is should I be drinking Crystal Light Drink mix?? So far for breakfast I have Kashi Rice Puff and Rice Milk, for snacks I have Ms Mays Almond Crunch, brown rice snaps with olive oil and roasted garlic flavoured hummus or popcorn.... Lunch is rice pasta with a meat/poultry or a soup and dinner is simillar ...I felt like I was doing great but I need someone to set me straight ...I did the spit test this morning and the yeast is certainly not gone. Thanks so much
Can we have organic cane juice? I noticed it is in most items at the healthy living store. I also saw it in a probiotic Kashi cereal that I am very interested in.
Thanks!
Is plain soymilk also allowed to drink? I am drinking that with the slimfast diet to help me loose weight
Thanks so much!! and thanks for the encouragement the service you are providing is invaluable!

I am less tired...my mouth is not acid...less moody and just joyfull!!

Hi
I have been reading that strawberries ...blueberries.rasberries and blackberries are OK or allowed as long as they are just picked or packaged frozen...ie for making milkshakes ( with almond milk)
From what i gather these fruits are very healthy and low on sugar...as long as you dont overdo it...i would think no more than 5 a day??
thoughts?
thanks
isnt moderation the key to anything?
:)
Its nice to finally enjoy a bit of fruit
the shakes are yummie
i usually enjoy one a day
10 bluberries and 3 strawberries with some almond milk
make a yummie shake
hello,
thank you so much for this page!! it has helped a lot, and i'm just on the candida diet for 3 days...
I would like to ask about white miso though. is it allowed? on one hand it is fermented, but on the other i've read that it has probiotics which eat the yeast so i'm a bit confused on this... any help is much much appreciated!!!
TIA
I'm just starting up the diet, and I'm worried about making sure that I get all my vitamins and minerals. You've mentioned that it's okay to take them when on the Candida diet. Is there any you recommend (or recommend avoiding)?
Hi there
I'm just starting the diet as I have been feeling unwell for a couple of years-tiredness, headaches, acid reflux, bloating to name a few. My recent and most unsettling symptom is a sore throat that won't shift (have had it for a couple of months) I also have a urine infection that hasn't as yet reponded to antibiotics (as the hospital doesn't specify what the bacteria is sensitive to the docs just try any they think on me) resulting on me being on my third lot for this infection, and my fourth lot this year. The docs have tested me for all the scary viruses etc but the only thing was that that my white blood cell count was a bit low (which can occur during infections) and thyroid are slightly low. Could candida cause these things? Thanks
Hi
Can you have cornflour to thicken sauces?
Hi There, So glad I found this site.
I believe I might have a yeast overgrowth and have begun to take Candigest tablets and cutting down on carbs, only started yesterday. My main symptoms are brittle hair, recurring nose and throat infections and almost contsant sneezing/blocked nose. I dont suffer from thrush though.
Does this sound like it could be candida?
Thanks
Lisa
Do you have any suggestions for diet while on antibiotics, if you're susceptible to candida or other intestinal dysbiosis? I got sick and there was no way around the antibiotics, but I don't want to undo all of the hard work I've done on the diet.
Also, I found out my dysbiosis wasn't candida. I actually have an overgrowth of all sorts of bad bacteria. My heath care providers told me to just stick to the candida diet. Does that sound right, or is there anything different I should do?
Many thanks, as always!
Hi
Can you have couscous as its on your not allowed list but other websites say its ok?
Also is it ok to eat raw carrots?
Hi again!
Is it ok to have rice or oat milk and is there any concern to what homeopathic pills are made, as in the base tablet/pill.
Love this blog its such a help
Thanks so much for your help - I am truly grateful.
I am now a week into the Candigest. It's main bonus is supposed to be that there is no die off effects as it contains enzymes which engulf the entire yeast cell. However, on Sunday I starting to feel rough, and Monday I had awful flu like symptoms for a day and couldn't get out of bed at all, I had a painful/tight chest when taking deep breaths, and still have a really stinging sore throat and the back sides of my tongue is really sore too. If I eat anything acidic I hit the roof.
Are these signs of die off despite Candigests claims do you think? If so, when will it end!?!?
I've started to take some potent Probiotic tablets too (78 billion bacteria) to try and repopulate my syatem with the right balance.
Thanks for any advice.
Lisa

Hi,
I was wondering if cocoa powder was acceptable since it has no sugar. I usually use carob but its a bit too bitter for my taste. Thanks!
Thank you so much for all of your dedication! I'm getting ready (buying the right foods) to start the diet. I've had problems with yeast for a couple of years now. I already eat a pretty healthy diet, but could definitely cut down on fruit and carbs. I'm already a probiotic believer (the only thing that's ever made a difference for me).
My question is: I take oral contraceptives (against all yeast experts' recommendation) for controlling severe pain and other symptoms of endometriosis. I tried going off the birth control five years ago and ended up in the hospital with pain, cysts and constant bleeding. After going back on the BC, I've had no more pain, which makes me EXTREMELY reluctant to stop taking it again.
I wonder if doing this whole diet for candida would be a waste of time, since I am terrified to stop taking the birth control pills. I wish I could ask my gyno about this, but he's convinced that another round of monistat should take care of things (ha! I wish).
Have you had any experience with these circumstances?
Thank you again!
Is amazing grass wheat grass ok to drink on the candida diet?
Hi
what is the advise for rye as ive found a few websites that says gluten feeds candida. I noticed some problems ie bloating after having oats so avoid that but never with rye flakes for breakfast or yeast free rye bread. I use it quite a lot so dont want to be doing the wrong thing.
Thanks for a great hub page!
I have heard that vichy water helps too. Its a water that contains two different salts that the candida hates. I use it to wash myself with when I have thrush and it takes it away within a day. However I have to stay on the diet too.
wammytk can I eat popcorn (homemade) everyday? or is it too much?
and also what do you think about canned sardines in tomato sauce? Is is safe to eat when you fight with candida?

My daughter was a "prime canidate" for surgery 2 years ago. She has been on the candida since. Her diet wasn't. She is now getting a vaginal yeast infection and would like some children recipes. She is only 7.
She has also been taking probiotics for 2 years.
Hi
Its been a while i posted
I wanted to add somthing
I have been totally symptom free now ( its been a year on a strict diet)
What trully helped for me ...to rid of the last symptom which was acid tongue
I have been taking high doses of vit d3 to boost immunity
during this flu season
WELL...who would have known
It totally got rid of all my symptoms
Initially in was very tired for a week
I thinks thats when my body and d3 was fighting the candida
Now i have HUGE energy
and am symtpom free
:)
Your advices and recipes has been really helpful and comprehensive! I'm extremely happy :)
I'm writing from a small country in Europe! Trying to fight recurrent vaginal candidiasis. I'm on my 3rd week of strict diet feeling way better in general, but vaginal symptoms come and go - long battle is ahead of me :)
Gynaecologist's diet recommendations are from 6 to 9 months. I'm on my 3rd week of strict diet.No sugar, no grain, no fruit, no dairy except my Therapeutic Yoghurt with high levels of Lactobaccillus 10exp11 cfu/ml designed to repopulate intestine when on antibiotic or having vaginal infections.
How to PROPERLY start the diet? - I did like that lady did on video posted on your hub. How to cleanse your intestinal and when during the diet?
What are the other supplements good when integrated in diet?
Hi Wammytk. Your website has been extremely helpful to me. I have been on the yeast free diet for 3 weeks. How will I be able to tell when I am completely healed?
Also, I tried some almond milk and my symptoms returned and I got a pretty bad stomach ache. If I happen to eat or drink something that makes those symptoms return, how much of a setback will this cause?
Finally, I self diagnosed myself. Would you recommend going to a holistic physician to confirm this diagnosis? Thanks so much for your help!
Forgot to ask, is sour dough bread(with small amounts of culture added to the batter) an option?! This is the only free-bakers-yeast-bread I could find in my country. There are also available breads with 0,5% of bakers yeast in it. Is that too much for the diet?
Loved your recipes - Maroccan chicken was AMAZING!
Whipped cream made of tofu, is a non dairy alternative, also hazelnut milk (if banana is an option later in the diet, it makes creamy texture)!
With nuts, herbs, garlic, oil, water one can make creamy sauces to serve with meat!
Lunch Dinner Salad: green salad, handful fresh spinach, 1 onion, 1-2 garlic, basil leaves, kohlrabi, purple salad (radish), lightly cooked kale, or broccoli, or swiss chard, it goes great with leftovers of cooked chicken or alone!

Hello, I'm searching for diet related blogs like mine http://www.chiefdietician.com and I stumbled your site, nice blog!. I hope you could also include me in your blogroll.
By the way, you have a very good writing skills here. Keep up the good work.
Great info. here! I am just starting the diet and I know that it is more restrictive in the first 2-3 weeks. I am slightly confused about the initial diet. Are the following allowed in the first weeks;
tomatoes
avocados
greek yogurt
Any grains?
http://www.timelesshealth.net/mm/gall_stones/clark
I've never seen anything like this, the first time i did this cleanse I passed about 70 gal stones all around 1/4 in. The second time I couldn't believe it, one came out over an inch in diameter. can't wait to do it again and get the rest out.
I highly recommend this to everyone, I feel so much better inside! Even if you've had your gall bladder removed this is still highly recommended. +++ Diabetics too!!. Will also relieve a lot of prostate problems!
Enjoy
I have used all your information and have felt great for a long time. I have noticed that I have started eating more sugar than I use to (duh!! should have known it would bother me) I have been experiencing terrible headaches that will not go away. Even strong medicine won't help. I am guessing that the yeast is feeding on the sugar heavily since I had done so well without it for such a long time. I notice I am not drinking much water either. I guess what I am wanting confirmation on is... do you think the headaches are being caused by the sugar I am consuming and the lack of water?
I am just starting this diet and I find it very hard. I made chicken with all salt, but then found out it has maltodextrin in it, I didn't know that was a sugar. I also ate it with white flour tortilla's, the label said 0 sugars, but then I read you are to avoid them, I am so confused. I am going to stay on this diet and start fivelac, when it arrives. But I was wondering if I could take the fivelac with the aqua flora?
Me again, I was looking at the french meadow bread and got confused again. Which breads and products can we have on the website? I see wheat and sugar all over.
Don't know if you remember me about 4 months back...I was asking questions as I was told I had candida. Well, since then I've found that I have lyme disease. It has been a complete nightmare and of course I'm on lots of antibiotics. What probiotics would you recommend, how much and how far away from the antibiotics? What other things should I do?
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for all the info. I just ordered Aqua FLora High Potency. I sure hope it helps. It would be great to get rid of these symptoms that I have had for 5 years!
I am wondering why you can't have decaf black tea if you have no sugar and use almond instead of milk?
Also meant to ask about organic tofu? Is this okay?
Hi Wammytk! We found and recommend the French Meadow website to our visitors as well...good site.
Would you be interested in including some of your recipes in our cookbook we are finalizing? I would pay you for your recipes / time (of course). Please contact me at info@theyeastdiet.com and we can discuss. Thanks!
I have recently started an anti candida diet and introduced probiotics and started anti fungals. I had a really bad die off reaction and so have stopped the anti fungals for the time being. I have now developed bad constipation which is clearing but I have terrible stomach acidity and pain especially after eating my main meal in the evening. I feel as if something is burning holes in my stomach and I have awful cramping pain. I have a history of gastritis. Do you think I ought to stop the diet?
Hi, Haven't been on for a while but I thought I might share some things with other candida sufferers. My big bout started this time last year and following an elimination diet with suggestions from Wammy and a nutritionist, I mananged to get my candida under control in a few weeks and by the summer I felt tonnes better. I know from chinese medecine that it is a dampness in our system but I didn't realise how bad damp can effect candida sufferers. We have had torrential rain for over 2 months and the damp in homes and in the air is terrible. I'm almost back to square one and will have to go back on a strict anti-candida diet and avoid damp places. If anyone is feeling particularly bad, it might not be something you are doing but the weather in your area.

A message for Sue.
If you are having bad die off, try Epsom salt baths especially if you are aching. Rub the salts into aching limbs and muscles. For the constipation try chlorella. It will help you go to the toilet but not like a laxative does. Make sure you get a high quality one - chlorella pyrenoidosa, as if you don't, it can have the opposite effect and give you bad wind.
Hi,
Does anyone know if I can have rice starch and corn starch on an anti candida diet?
I suppose I am denying the obvious here. Do you mean that until I get rid of the candida I should avoid eating any potatoes of any kind?
And what do you know about trying a coconut oil cleansing? What are the pros and cons?
has anyone tried Niaouli essential oil (3 drops to take mornig and night). I was told that it would help clear the candida. Is it safe to consume essential oils, and does it help?
hi,great site thanks for so much useful information its so hard to find accurate information.
I have previously done both liver and candida diets,I am determined this time to really get on top of it this time.
I have only been on it for just over a week and am considering having a colonic irrigation to kick start it ,what would you advise ?
I am also taking probiotics, golden seal and olive leaf extract.
I am wondering why rice and other grains are permitted, so many sited I have read on and the info from my doctors says no grains at all. Anyone?
Hey Tammy, It's been a while. Onto some really great breakthroughs on curing candida. Its still in the works but i will keep you updated. For those of you that are eager here is some of it.
-Bob Beck Protocol

-MMS(Miracle Mineral Suplement)
-Ionized Alkaline Water
I want to start my own hub eventually, but still in the experimental stage.(some great results so far though)

And as always, diet is the first step!! thank you tammy ;)!
I am told wine is not allowed on diet but xylotol, an alcohol based sweetner is; Why?
Wow - this is a really comprehensive list of both suggested items and foods/beverages and condiments to stay right away from. Thanks for making this hub. Very helpful.
Hi,
I've just been diagnosed with candida (finally! after 5 years of specialist after specialist, and drug after drug that i now realise inflammed it!) I've been put on Nilstat and Nalcrom, plus Glutathione (an oral powder supplement) and Probex (a probiotic). Do you know anything about the values of these medicines???? I am a little concerned as I got candida by too many antibiotics, immune suppressants and the contraceptive pill. My symptoms are severe eczema, horrible rash on my face, swollen eyes, brain fog, to name a few. I also have asthma and all the environmental allergies, plus muscle tested allergies to wheat, dairy, egg, rye, barley, blueberry, green beans, soy, and kiwifrut (that ones anaphylactic!) ..makes the diet even harder!! After a week on the meds and candida diet I am feeling SO SO SO much better! Still a way to go but finally I can see a light... In the last week I also had colon irrigation on the advice of someone in similar circumstances.. I freaked out at the thought at first, but I think it has made a huge difference, and the nurse told me she could actually see the candida coming out! (it wasn't particularly pleasant, but was nowhere near as bad as having candida!!!) I think everyone should look into doing this as a way of helping the detox.
Thanks!
Looking for a recipe For a Protein Shake ( no dairy, WHeat, Sugar )
is corn allowed?
thanks alot for this list. i have been following it strictly and for the first time in years, in feel i am taking full control of my life.
I was wondering why the oils such as canola and sunflower are on the "not allowed" list. Thanks!
Also, why can't nuts be roasted?
This list and all the comments and questions and answers are all really amazing and helpful. I started reading at the top and have been reading for hours. Still in the "2 years ago" comments, and because I'm tired of reading, I'm just going to ask anyone who knows the answer what it means to add foods back into your diet "one at a time." Is this like one per meal, one per day, one per week, what? I'm sorry if this question was previously answered later in the posts, but so far in my reading no one ask asked this question yet...
Hi i have candida, it affects me with my sinuses, i did a diet for a month with some nutrispore antifungals and i did feel much beter, my spit was clear and didnt feel thick and sticky and my nose wasnt stuff, i still got crackling noises in my ears though as that is the main symptom., i went back on a normal diet and it came back, so i have gone on some candida clear antifungals and i went to my doctors yesterday and he prescribed me some nystatin oral suspension, i dont understand it though because the nystatin contains high sugar, why is this?, thanks Chris
“The form of fructose in agave nectar is a complex structure called inulin. Inulins are a group of short chain fructose molecules called oligosaccharides which occur naturally in few sugar sources. Inulin helps in the absorption of Calcium and Magnesium. The sugar in agave nectar, while still being very sweet, does not feed Candida yeast and other unfriendly anaerobic bacteria in the small intestines and Colon. Anaerobic bacteria recognize the inulin in agave nectar as a sugar source yet when they try and feed on it as other sugar sources you have been putting in your body the unfriendly bacteria cannot extract sufficient energy from the Agave nectar to progress life cycle. “ Sourced from Health N Vitality Website
Wow, this list is amazing. My doctor put me on a candida diet but only gave me a list of foods I can't eat. It's great to see a list of things I can eat too. I think this will make it a lot easier.
I like to make pigs n the blanket. (rolled pancake around link sausage). I found a pancake recipe made with brown rice flour(wheat free, yeast free). What kind of syrup can I put on it? I understand agave nectar is a "no".
I've been reading some of the questions above, and just wanted to offer a few corrections:
Lactose-free milk should be considered a big no-no. While it's technically lactose-free, the milk has merely been treated in such a way that the lactose has been broken down into simple sugars. But they were never removed.
Also, vinegar should also be considered a strict no-no. It's essentially a complex sugar that easily breaks down into simple sugars. Organic doesn't make it okay, either. I had to explain to my mom that she was causing her chronic yeast-infections and urinary track infections by drinking organic apple cider vinegar on a daily basis. Once she stopped, they went away.
I would add the exceptions that on the later stage of a candida diet, around the time when you're introducing good bacteria back into your system with probiotic yogurts and what have you, saurkraut and kimchi are excellent sources of good bacteria.
Hope this helps!
Is yacon syrup OK on the candida diet? It is supposedly diabetic safe and high in FOS.
Do you recommend hydrogen peroxide therapy? I've read good things about it but it also sounds a bit scary (since food grade hydrogen peroxide can start fires if not handled properly!)
are lima beans and corn allowed? I'm starving :-)
I am new to all this and just found your website. In the initial phase, do we have to cut out all the foods you have listed- my naturopath told me to follow a 70%/30% Rule. If I should be really strict for the first month then I would rather do that, and I just scrolled down and dont remember seeing this but is a glass of wine every now and then allowed?
I do find quite a few contradictory sites so will have a look at any sites you recommend to be most reliable.
Thanks :)
Also how many weeks do we have to stay off of fruit? I am starting to rely on corn a lot and wonder if thats bad. I bought popcorn and corn chips and corn tortillas from the organic store. I am eating a lot of almonds and meat and veggies and such. Is corn and lima beans ok? I am starving and have 2 active toddlers :-) Thanks so much for this info! Also, I have all over itching (only been on the diet 4 days and used sugar heavily before). Is this itching a die off symptom?
Thanks!
Ugh So I started the diet today.. Not to loose wait just to free my body of yeast. I feel very sick, and dont think the affects of the yeast killer could come on so fast... I did end up eating plain animal crackers to settle my stomach.... Maybe next week will be better HAHA
Hi!
I have had some serious skin rashes and they keep telling me it is a fungus so when I researched, I realized I had about half of the symtoms!! then I did a spit test first thing in the morning and I had legs RIGHT AWAY!! It is so nice to know that you are not alone and there are other people who are suffering too!! I have excema and psorisis (most likely spelt wrong!!) and I use high steriod cream for it, one of the reasons for my Candida.... Vicious cirlce!!
I do have some questions about the diet.
Is salsa ok? What about canned tuna? Prawns? Regular fish from the store? Apple juice or any kind of fruit juice? Wraps instead of bread? I am a very healty eater in general, but of course most of the things I ate are on the foods to avoid list!
I must thank you so much for doing this for everyone, you really are the light at the end of the tunnel!

Can I drink my girlfriends breast milk? Or does it have the sugars that other milks have, such as cows milk?
I'm sorry to be giving some bad news. But as everyone NEEDS to know - Carbohydrates = sugar. Therefore, all grains need to be avoided if you really want to starve Candida.
Of course, this is for people that want to have a faster recovery, I do understand that this diet alone is very tough to keep up.
Hi to everyone. ..I agree with Mark.
All grains should be avoided if you want to starve Candida.
And THANK YOU VERY MUCH to Wammytk!! Very cool and active site!!
Good Luck and Godd Health to all!
ATTENTION:
If you suffer on a chronical yeast infection, the reason could be that there is too much mercury in your body. Here is a great site too: http://www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com/index.html
Check out Mercury on the left.
I found this interesting from this site: welikeitraw.com
Authors Frédéric Patenaude and Dr. Douglas Graham, D.C. have disputed the notion that the sugar is the cause and instead have said that excess fat is the challenge:
"Excess fat is the culprit in candida, not sugar, per se. When fat levels in the blood rise, so does blood sugar, because excess fat inhibits insulin from performing its function of escorting sugar out of the bloodstream. The excess fat lines the blood vessel walls, the cells’ insulin receptor sites, the sugar molecules themselves, and the insulin with a thin coating of fat, thus blocking and inhibiting normal metabolic activity. Too much sugar in the blood is as life threatening as too little and can result in serious illness or death. Yeast, or candida, is a constant presence in the blood; it serves as a life preservation mechanism, blooming when there is an excess of sugar in the blood stream to bring blood sugar down to a non-threatening level. When the sugar is distributed and used by the cells of the body, the yeast quickly dies off as it is supposed to. If fat levels stay chronically high due to a poor diet, sugar will remain in the bloodstream and feed the large candida colonies instead of feeding the 18 trillion cells of your body. Starved for fuel, these cells can no longer metabolize energy, and you become tired, and feel rundown. Because all carbohydrate, fat, and protein that we eat is converted to simple sugar (glucose) if it is to be used by the cells for fuel, the way out of this cycle is not to eat less sugar, but to consume less fat. When fat levels drop, the sugar starts to get processed and distributed again, and the yeast levels drop because there is no longer excess sugar available."
HI, ten years ago I was told by a naturopath that I had candida. I stopped after I felt better and now I am feeling horrible. Recently, my hair started itching and I have had major thinning in the front. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Do you have any advice and if I follow a candida diet could my hair grow back?
I have had such a time with all the things candida has done to my body. Right now I am working on my liver... but first, I am doing another parasite cleanse.
It seem candida just wreaks havoc on the body. Check out my blog and you will see all the things I am doing to get over the problems caused by candida
hi, i was diagnosed with H-Pylori,as a result i also have Candida,my question is has anyone ever experienced a sweetness in their mouth upon waking in the morning.I don't have anymore since starting the Candida diet.I am also wondering is this a temporary diet or permanent?
Thanks so much for this list and all your advice! I'm about 3 weeks into this diet, which I started because I have had problems with eczema for several years and doctors have been no help. My skin is looking better than it has in a year, it's really amazing. Of course, I am wary of it coming back, so I am trying to be extra careful in figuring out what I will soon begin to reintroduce into my diet.
I notice that a lot of people have posted asking about breakfast options. I would like to recommend using quinoa or amaranth to make a porridge. When I started the diet, I was making amaranth/quinoa porridge with unsweetened almond milk and some xylitol. I also like to mix in some almond or other nut butter to make the porridge more filling. Now that I'm adding some fruits back in, I no longer add any xylitol, but will mix in either some chopped granny smith apple or strawberries. As a lifelong oatmeal lover, I really enjoy having this for breakfast, and I will continue to make it even after I've added some oats back into my diet.
The diet has been a unique challenge for me because I am also vegan. Finding that there was next to nothing on the internet about approaching this diet as a vegan, I decided to make my own blog about it. It's nothing fancy, but if you are trying to approach this diet without eating eggs, meat, fish, or any other animal products, you may find it helpful: vegancandidadiet.blogspot.com
Lastly, I just want to add that I'm actually enjoying this diet now that I've gotten over the initial cravings. Of course I miss bread, but I have learned a lot about my body and about eating habits, even though I was already quite health-conscious before I started the diet. Approaching this diet with a positive attitude makes it a million times easier. Remember that you will get over your sugar cravings, and learn to appreciate the enhanced performance of your taste buds, freed from dependence on sugar! Best of luck to everyone.
Hi, Thank you for this info! I'm doing the diet and curious about carbo? Is there any sugar in carob? Can I eat it everyday, in moderation? Also, what about nescafe. I really miss my soy latte and wonder if I stick with everything else is this okay to keep? I'm also breastfeeding at the moment and eating one apricot and half a nectarine a day. Do you have any other advice for breastfeeding moms? I want to keep my baby healthy and also give her milk that is free from candida! You're website is sooo helpful. Thanks again!
Excellent list of foods. I think that even if someone is not suffering from candida, that this diet will help them tremendously. Thank you very much!
Thanx this site has helped alot :-)
Thank you so much! Your help has been truly invaluable!
I bought a carton of almond milk yesterday, which is supposed to be ok, but in the ingredients it said that it contained brown sugar. Does this apply to all types of almond milk and if so, how can it be ok to consume it?
Thank you for all your help!
from my personal research, i blv that bulgar wheat must be in the acceptable food list since it has high fiber.can u plz re study bulgar wheat and confirm if my idea is correct.
i have a poor service issue with kingbio, the makers of AquaFlora. UPS delivery i paid extra for 3 days did not arrive. the manager of kingbio customer service would not credit me the $9 difference in regular shipping versus 3 day, and she hung up on me. although they give you no choice in shipping companies, nor do they take the risk of operating retail storefronts, they also do not stand behind their delivery method. the risk is all on the customer. my great credit card company is championing my dispute. i hope the product works, but first i hope to receive it. i will keep you posted.
Is agave nector ok on a cleanse?
My 6 yr old daughter was just told that she may have candida overgrowth. She was given Aquaflora to take and a candida diet was suggested. We're currently GF/CF and hoping to make the transition. SOOO overwhelmed how to do the diet for (picky) kids!
is tempeh alright?
how about kefir milk (goat, cow), fermented coconut water using water kefir grains, and coconut flesh
Thank you!

Are we aloud to have corn? or corn tortillas???
I believe that avoiding packaged foods could be theght. They could taste very good, but packaged foods contain very little vitamins and minerals, making you try to eat more simply to have enough vigor to get with the day. If you're constantly ingesting these foods, moving over to grain and other complex carbohydrates will assist you to have more vigor while eating less. Good blog post.

I am about to start the diet AGAIN.... my question is this, after days of research, and viewing several different versions of the diet, and all the "List's " of what to eat and not, why are there so many differences if it basically the same diet ? I applaud your list, it had much more shown that was avail to eat. Your list says no Yogurt or cheeses, but two or three others said as long as they were natural they would be fine? I have massive migrain head aches and I would think a bit of protien might help. Any suggestions..
Just wondering if Choffy or Crio Bru (ground pure cocoa beans) are acceptable on a yeast free diet? I really miss coffee and tea and need a change from herbal tea once in awhile. There is no caffeine, sugar, yeast etc in the brewable chocolate available these days.
I'm sure hoping it'll be ok as I've just ordered some online.
Thanks!!!

Thank you sooooo much for this list. I used a control diet when I was pregnant but I lost it and now that I am affected again I was starting to starve, I'll print it and go shopping inmeiately.
